Field Hockey

Molly Anne loved her first field hockey season! We’ve played in the driveway at home just messing around but she really enjoyed Charlotte Ambush. It was on Sunday evenings which was a little different for us but it worked. They use the first three weeks as practices and learning. And the last three weeks are games. It is the perfect mix. She had a great time and wants to play more! Made my former field hockey player heart happy!

OIB Oysterfest

We are back from a big weekend in Ocean Isle. They hosted North Carolina's Oyster Festival and it was a popular time to be on the island!

We got there around 4pm on Friday so had time to do a few house things and then go to the concert that kicked off the weekend!

It was a beautiful night.

Best sunsets are at the beach!

Saturday morning I got up and went for a walk. Watching the sun rise on the beach is one of my favorite things.

Went back and made the kids breakfast then we all went up to the Oyster Fest. Ice cream and funnel cake for breakfast because why not!

Grady's first face painting - a dinosaur!

And a puppy!

While Kevin met the electrician to fix some electrical issues from the hurricane, the kids and I watched the professionals shuck oysters!

Lots of playground time!

They play together so well...most of the time. Not all of the time but most!

Found some friends and took a horrible picture of four cute kiddos having more funnel cakes and sunset slush!

Mills likes being at the beach! He's a free boy there!

We had dinner at our friend's house Saturday night which is always a good time. How about that Tennessee Alabama game?! Crazy.

Sunday morning I took the kiddos to 59 Causeway for breakfast. Another one of my fav things to do - best view in the house sitting right here eating breakfast!

Oh and to be clear - it's not all rainbows and sunshine. In addition to the electrical issues at the house, we also have a dead hot water heater so it was a cold shower kind of weekend. Kids toughed it out on night one but took one at our friend's house on night two! Many years of doing ASP (Appalachia Service Project) helped me take a couple cold showers without complaining! So now we have to get that fixed...!!!

Then we hit the road back to Charlotte pretty early! Molly Anne had her last field hockey game and a birthday party! More pictures of field hockey to come!

Chat soon!

Five on Friday - Another Week

Whew what a week. I’m so glad it’s Friday.

I’ve decided I need to write a novel of travel stories of my 15+ years of traveling for work. Yesterday I went to Pittsburgh for a few hours and literally it was the worst turbulence coming into the airport. This was after circling for about 20 minutes because the airport was closed due to weather. People were grabbing seats, the ladies in my row were very nervous. It wasn’t fun. I’ve been in turbulence before but this time I was worried!

Gosh but all of the other stories. I should start writing them down as I remember them then publish a post sometime.

Anyway!

1. Pumpkin buckets from dollar tree. Using these for Grady’s class and asking each child to bring in 16 non candy items to share and put in everyone’s bucket. I also wrote their names on the buckets. The kids love this! PS - dollar tree isn’t dollar tree anymore. It’s dollar and a quarter tree!

2. We passed by this yesterday in north Pittsburgh so ran in, did a loop and got back on the road! It was soooo cute!

3. Construction site. Building an oil change. Very rainy and muddy yesterday! Came to see this, meet the project manager then cruise back to Charlotte.

4. Molly Anne has been the star student in her class all week. She has gotten to take two items to share with the class every day this week. Today I get to go in and share what I do for work. Kevin helped me figure out a cute way to show them that I help build buildings. We are using kinetic sand, stone and magnatiles! Fun right?! Also taking her classmates some of my company fidget spinners and slap koozies. I think they’ll love it all. Hope so at least!

5. Got these jeans in the mail and I’m obsessed. They run one size big. Here’s the sweater. Shoes

Chat soon everyone! Happy mid October weekend!

Lulu Looks

Got to bop into the Baltimore Lululemon store and I loved their set up. Much bigger and more space than Charlotte's stores. Anyway, found these five looks I liked!

1. Yes, the best shirt. I love this space gray color because I could wear it with navy or black leggings. It's almost like a neutral. It's a good weight shirt to have during the season transition to Fall. They also have a blue I'd really like.

2. This down jacket seemed the perfect weight for a southern winter. I like the light blue that it comes in but I'd be afraid it would get dirty. I like the looks of this being sporty but still could wear with jeans.

3. I can't wear the swiftly line unless it's the relaxed fit like this shirt is. The regular is too tight to my body and shows all my rolls. This relaxed fit is much better and is athletic looking.

4. I never liked lululemon leggings because I thought the price was ridiculous and I was fine with the Zellas I had. But since Athleta changed the fit on my fav leggings, I was forced to find a new "basic." These leggings are fabulous. Good to work out in and good to lounge in. They're at least practical in that I can wear them for both reasons. And yes, I wash and dry my clothes. I know you're not supposed to dry these but I don't have time for that lifestyle and so far these are fine. Also, pockets are top notch to hold my phone!

5. Saw this cozy oversized funnel neck fleece on that chilly Baltimore day and really thought I needed it! I'd probably get the ivory but this green was pretty.

Random Wednesday

Here are some random Wednesday thoughts!

1. On Monday Grady and I left the house for work and school and I discovered about 3 minutes in that I had zero make up on. So I ran back home. AHHH!

2. I've been a wild person this week with lots of room mom stuff. Getting Grady's Fall party organized and sending out all of the favorites lists, class directory and amazon wish lists for the teachers. I still need to get Molly Anne's teacher's door decorated!

3. These are your Christmas reminders
 - buy stamps now before the cute ones sell out
 - update your Christmas card list now!
 - I also ordered these gift tags from Etsy that are super cute! I put in the notes section to make them stickers because they're easier to me than tags I have to tie on. I also had her change Merry & Bright to Merriest Christmas because I wanted "Christmas" on our tags!

4. My kids love some loud music in the car. I have zero idea where they must get that from. HA! Yesterday, Grady said, "turn it up louder so I don't hear myself sing!" It cracked me up because I do the same thing! Speaking of loud music - download Stir Fry by Migos. Also how about Disco Inferno by 50 Cent. Some ole hip hop. Dad, I don't have CD's anymore so you can't break them due to bad language like you used to!

Hope everyone is having a nice week! It's a good day to have a good day.

Class Pictures

Both kid's class pictures turned out pretty decently this year.

I wasn't in town for Molly Anne's but she honestly gets herself completely ready every morning anyway. She is good at doing her hair so I wasn't totally worried. I just set her outfit out before I left and all good.

I wish Grady's hair looked better but it's fine. They were taken halfway through the school day and after time on the playground so honestly these are good if you think of it that way.

Molly Anne's are by Lifetouch and Grady's are by St. John Photography.  I always order digital images then have them printed by mpix.com. That way I can distribute to both of our parents and to my brother/sister in law. It much easier and I like having them digitally so I can print whatever sizes I need.

Weekend Roundup

My new olive tree inspired by Ashley at @prettythings.charlotte
Picked it up at Trader Joe’s and actually saw Ashley there!

These goofballs played in one of our backyards most of the weekend! Such nice weather!

While we did this on Friday night.

Molly Anne and I got up super early and prepped for the neighborhood yard sale. We made about $145 so it was def worth our time. And we got soooo much cleaned out of the playroom. That may have been the best part!

Molly Anne and I took Grady to our club for his first tennis lesson. He had been begging to play and he liked it although he was super tired.

He will be back!

Molly Anne went to her friend Aria’s birthday party at Sports Connection and while she was there, I went running in a nearby neighborhood, dropped things off at Goodwill and filled up my gas tank. Fitting in a workout and getting other stuff done while I could have been just sitting around chit chatting feels extra productive. Most every Tuesday last school year while Molly Anne was at dance, I would go run or walk in a neighborhood close by. If I had Grady, I’d bring his scooter for him to roll with me.

Molly Anne had fun playing field hockey again last night. So far she really likes it!!

Happy Monday! Dentist appointment will start my day. Good times.
