We have been in Jackson, Wyoming this past weekend and are back now! Spent a few nights and it was perfect. The direct flight from Charlotte was so easy. Fun fact - Jackson is the town Jackson Hole is the entire nearby area! I had to google it.
We just booked the trip a couple of weeks ago. We couldn't decide where to go while the kids were at Camp. Ended up on this so we were a bit last minute. We asked a friend who has a house out here where to have dinner and I searched the charlotte moms Facebook groups for ideas too. Other than that, that's all of the planning that went into it. Here's a list of the places we went that were great:
Breakfast:
Cowboy Coffee
The Bunnery
Pearl Street Bagels
Lunch:
DOGS - local burritos
Dinner:
The Local - American
Glorietta - Italian
Merry Piglets - Mexican
We landed on Friday and got our car and headed downtown. Stayed at Hotel Jackson (it was great and super convenient). Had a quick lunch at DOGS and walked around all of the shops. Ended up stopping for drinks at Roadhouse Brewing Company and met a nice couple from England - Emily and Rhys! We chatted with them for awhile and saw them again a couple of other times later in the evening. Very fun!
Didn't get a hat but wanted to!
Dinner at The Local - Buffalo Wellington - yum!
Saturday morning fuel at Cowboy Coffee before our big adventure to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone!
We ended up doing this big loop. About 250 miles. Took us from about 8am-4pm but we stopped a bunch along the way if we saw something of interest. We liked it because we saw both parks and got to go to Montana and Idaho. I had been to Idaho but Kevin hadn't and neither of us had been to Montana.
Tetons
colter bay was gorgeous
Snake River behind us. Pictures don't do places like this justice!
Saw the Old Faithful Geyser erupt.
Visited the cutest fly fishing shop in West Yellowstone, Montana and Kevin got a pic with the owner.
Back in Jackson - had to go have a drink on the saddle at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar! They even had high noons!
Watched the cowboy shootout at the town square which they have every night at 6pm. It was sort of an acting out skit. Our kids would have loved it.
Probably our favorite dinner at Glorietta. Couldn't get a reservation but walked right in to the bar.
The bartender at Glorietta told us to go to Teton Tiger and have this Natsu Sour drink. SO good.
We ended up meeting a big group of people at Teton Tiger and went to the Silver Dollar Bar with them for some live music. Felt like we were 25 again! And the next morning was rough! This breakfast from The Bunnery was delish though - hash browns, eggs, mushrooms and Swiss with sour cream on the side.
It was sleeting outside when we came out of breakfast! We drove out to Wilson and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort to check that out. Very cool place to ski and hang out.
On the way back we stopped at Emily Stevens Park and walked for awhile. It was windy, cold and raining so that didn't last long!
We kinda just hung the rest of the day and walked around Jackson. Early dinner at Merry Piglets - so good. Walked some more and split a mudslide milkshake from Jackson Drug.
A cool knife shop that Kevin liked.
It was great to get away! Now back to reality!
