Comfy Cozy

Molly Anne always calls it comfy cozy so that's why I thought it would be fun to call this post just that! It's been so hot in the late afternoons that we get early baths and hang around the house after dinner. Here is some comfortableness for you! Love these short pajamas. I have them in the long version and love them so much that I have two colors.  

These slippers are sold out in this color every year when Fall rolls around so I'm thinking about grabbing these. My current slippers are straight up worn out with holes in them. I have never wanted to spend this much for slippers but the word on the street from my friends (and Mom) is that these are amazing and hold up wonderfully!

Aren't these slippers super fun and wild?! I mean why not right?!

The best pima knit robe that you can actually dry your hair in and not have to take another shower from sweating so much! And I love these pajamas too!

And for hanging around the house...this is essential to throw on when you are a little chilly! If you don't have one of these, you must get one. It's also a great gift for a mother in law or mama.

Molly Anne Post

Looking back on my blog, some of my favorite posts are the ones I do about my children near their birthdays or age milestones. I didn't do one for Molly Anne last year and I hate that I didn't so this year I'm changing that! 

She is a little girl that is confident, caring, sweet, sensitive, has a little drama and loves her family something fierce. 

She loves rainbows, unicorns, LOL stuff, all kinds of music, went through a jojo siwa period but not as much right now, stuffed animals and wearing dresses and skirts that twirl.

She loves to do crafts, dance, swim, play games on her tablet, read, build legos, play board games, ride her bike and scooter, play at the playground and hang at the beach. 

She is not shy in the least, she's very go with the flow, mostly a rule follower, occasionally listens (ha), is kind and respectful. She's friends with everyone and is easy to get along with. 

The relationship she has with Grady is super special and I'm forever thankful. I hope they always are close. He idolizes her and she loves him right back just the same. They are 2 years and 10 months apart and very good friends. I love their relationship. He thinks everything she does is cool. She is soooo sweet with him and takes care of him in a lot of ways. A little thing - every night she puts toothpaste on his toothbrush. Something little but she's ALWAYS thinking of him. She is his biggest cheerleader.  

We are thankful beyond belief for her and love her SOOOOO much!

Constant Battle

Lately I feel like everything is a constant battle in my head with having childcare and working versus spending time with my kids. And I think it's because we don't have a set schedule this summer. Honestly that's my fault but it's also how I wanted it!

A few weeks ago I was about to go pick up Grady at 2:30pm and I was like man if I could do these other three things without him, it'd make my life a lot easier. So for once I waited one hour (while he was playing on the playground and having fun with friends) to pick him up and got my stuff done instead. It felt so good and it also felt like something I never do. 

I feel like I spending every waking moment either working or with my kids. Which I do and I like that but I'm also finding that I don't take care of myself. For me to fit exercise in, blogging, time with Kevin/friends, I do all of that when my kids are asleep. I can't tell you the last time I have had a pedicure or anything else like that. Don't get me wrong - I don't need these things but dang it'd be nice to get my nails done. And I'd also like to do something about some other things I need to do. Ha! 

In the same breathe, I don't want to do those things because I'd rather spend time with my children. I think it's a mom battle for all of us but I think it's a different battle for working moms. (Please don't get me wrong, I'm not belittling moms that don't work, I'm simply stating how I feel!) Work consumes so much of my brain that a lot of times these days I have no brain power left. I want to get my work done but my kids are way more important. 

I'm the type of person that doesn't do well when I have work I need to get done. I'm OCD in that regard because I need to have that done before I can operate. At the same time, if my home life doesn't have it's act together (laundry done, dishwasher put away, etc) then I cannot operate at my office. I'm crazy I tell ya! 

As for this summer, I didn't put Molly Anne in an 8-5 camp setting every week because I didn't think that would be the best thing for her. I wanted her to have some weeks with camps, some weeks without camps, some with morning camps and a babysitter to take her to the pool in the afternoon. I wanted her to have a FUN summer and not go to the same place every week. That's just wanted I wanted for her and what I thought would be best. So yes she is very happy and loving summer. But the randomness of it all is a lot for my mind to get around. Yes I have calendars and alllll of the organization around it. But I do look forward to some normal consistency that the school year brings. And I'm not wishing Summer away!

Can anyone else relate with all of this mumble jumble?! As my Mom always tells me, "you're doing the best you can!"

Rest of the Week and Weekend

Well I know everywhere on the east coast was affected by Elsa last week. Hopefully everyone is okay! We got a big storm early Thursday morning and it was very windy the rest of the day but we made it through. The storm actually hit at high tide but thankfully all was okay. We are new to this hurricane/tropical storm situation with a house at the beach!

Dad made this happen with some cinder blocks and wood from Lowes!! We got the golf cart up 24" to the bottom of it and 28" to the center of the battery area. Our high water mark for the house from previous storms was 27". So we thought we'd be in pretty good shape.

Molly Anne built this Lego Beach House in basically a day and asked my Dad and I each one question but she already knew the right answer for both. So yep. Such a fun gift from the girls next door for her birthday! 


We finally finished a puzzle that's been going on for a few weeks. Our living area looks so clean and neat now without the puzzle all over the coffee table. I do like a puzzle though!



And we grabbed some shrimp from Sheffields which were delicious fried like my Dad did them! We had to do it in the garage because it was still so windy outside!



Molly Anne was soooo good that day so when Kevin got back to the beach from working in Charlotte, we took her to the arcade with just the three of us (Grady was in bed at home with my parents). 



Friday morning I went for an early run around the island and walked onto the beach to check things out the morning after the storm. Waves were rough and lots of shells on the beach. 



We met some friends out on the beach on Friday. Matchy matchy - hers and mine. My glasses are by Nectar. I need to do a post about how awesome they are.

My kiddos are beach bums at this point. They love it so much. There are not many rules on the beach and it's very hard for them to get in trouble. It's just a good spot to be in for everyone!





Friday night we loaded up and went to the concert at the town park. 

It was so fun!





We were still unloading and when we got upstairs we found her chillin like this. She's a hoot. 



Saturday morning at 59 Causeway. We went here about 10 times in the last 11 days it feels like. Not quite but close haha!



Then Mom and I took the kids to play putt putt. Mom is still quite competitive! ;) She beat me by 5 strokes!!

Grady got one too!



Lazy nap time for the pups. Mills loves the beach. His favorite spot is the back porch! He likes the breeze and watching the boats go by!



I did some fishing on Saturday during Grady's nap and it was fun. Kevin and Molly Anne joined me for a bit too. Kevin said to me, "this is good for you, you don't have your phone and you're doing something you like!" I said wow what a concept ha! I'm always in a rush in EVERYTHING and it honestly was nice to hang down there on the dock and mess around. Maybe I should do it more often!



We got the kids kayak out that the previous owners left us and Molly Anne and Grady LOVED that! She paddled him around for a little bit.



Our friends came over for dinner and we did shrimp again, some grouper bites and steamed some crabs we caught off the dock. Had corn, potato salad and slaw with it. The summer meal! We hung on the dock some more and fished. 






Grady was a tired boy with Nannie and convinced Poppa to let him watch tractors on his phone!


Night night!


This boy needs some sleep. He was a pistol this week but I'm hoping it's just a phase. So yep you see all of these cute pictures but just know that it wasn't all cute and fun. Grady gave me a run for my money in a big way. There were days he went to time out many times. He's a mess right now but this too shall pass! :)

Five on Friday

ONE:

When you have to powerwash your crab trap but your power washer is at home. And your Dad is smart and says let's head to the car wash! New crab trap now!

TWO:

We got the WaterMat out that the previous owners left us. It was so fun! This is a link to a similar one. Same brand. The people that owned our house before us left it behind for us to enjoy! 

THREE:

Watching fireworks on the 6th from our back porch. Perfect view of them. She loved them...Grady wasn't as thrilled but that's because he thought fireworks were what he burned his hand on on Sunday. He finally enjoyed them as he laid on me. I didn't hate it! ;)

FIVE:

Scenes from Wednesday! Little quiet time for all.

Couple mile bike ride. They love it so much. I walked/ran beside them. 


Mills will sprint right out to the dock…wild animal!
