A Few Photos

Tuesday I got out and did a couple of errands.  Also, Shauna came over to bring us dinner and meet Grady!

Molly Anne made this artwork when I was in the hospital. I wish it hadn’t gotten wet, who knows how that happened!

Yesterday I did nothing and it was glorious.  Actually I made taco salads for dinner so that was productive.  Other than that Grady and I stayed on our schedule of feedings and chilled.

A girl on a local Facebook group has a boy that’s a little older with the same initials and my friend Brannon tagged me in the post.  So she sold me a few little monogrammed things, including this!  How awesome is that?  She says she will have more for me sometime!  Christine did the blanket with the fish! ;)

Today I’ve got some stuff to do for Kevin. I’m all caught up on thank you notes so that feels good!  I also slept last night because Jen our night nurse was here so I feel like a new human today.

Hope everyone has a nice Thursday!

Last Time vs. This Time

Grady is three weeks old today!  Ahhhh.

Thought it’d be fun to chat about the things I’m doing the same and things I’m doing differently this time around after having Molly Anne almost three years ago and Grady three weeks ago!

We quickly distinguished day from night for him once we got home.  I’m a crib day one person and was with Molly Anne too.  I just use the monitor and get up and go in his room to feed him each time.  It isn't a huge deal to walk down the hall to do this.  We've done a couple crib naps when we are home and it's easy to do.  Crib is the safest place for him and I personally think it's best to have him in there.  Yep, even with my c-section that first week my rear rolled out of bed every time to go feed him, haha!

Last time it was a party of visitors in the hospital room and at home every day.  Not this time.  Physically I haven't been able to do that and I just have really enjoyed the quiet time.  I feel kinda badly about it but at the same time, I have had to get better.

I'm not boiling bottles every day this time but we had an instant boiling water dispenser put into this house when we were building it and it's the best thing ever.  Faster and easier than a dishwasher!

I'm team no pacifier because Molly Anne never took one.  Talk to me in a month.  We'll see if this stays the same.

I don't really believe in a ton of sleep assistance like the dock a tot, sleep sack, sound machine.  Never say never.  We'll see, I may come back on this but I didn't do any of this with Molly Anne and she's always been a good sleeper.  I do a swaddle for sure, especially this young!

Not using my old Bella Tunno diaper bag.  Instead I'm using this bag and it's been perfect so far!  I'm not carrying a ton of stuff for Grady - basically diapers, wipes, disposable changing pad cover, change of clothes, a bottle and a formula container.  I have a few arts and crafts that I keep in there for Molly Anne too.

We've had a night nurse once a week this time and it's been a lifesaver.  Kevin is working his tail off and isn't getting up in the middle of the night and I haven't been able to nap during the day.  I know it's temporary so for now I'm pushing the easy button and being thankful for the one night a week of real sleep.

If anyone tells me that Grady is a different child than Molly Anne again then I may go crazy.  I'm aware.

I did Moms on Call last time and I'm doing it again this time but I'm not a crazy person quite yet about it.  He's still so little!  I do believe in getting him on a schedule and getting him to sleep.  Everyone thrives on a schedule and babies grow and develop when they sleep.  It's important.  We started the nighttime routine a few days ago and that's about all I'm doing at this point.  I'll let Ms. Becky deal with getting him on a nap schedule when he goes to her (this is what I did last time).

I took 12 weeks maternity leave with Molly Anne and I'm taking longer this go around.  I need to be around the month of August for a couple of reasons but mainly because there is a lot of transition for Molly Anne and I want to be available for all of that to be sure it goes smoothly.  Grady will be taking her place at Becky's and she is going to a new school that will be more educational and less day care....something she really needs!

I think that's all I've got for now.  Let me know if you have any comments and I'll answer them in another post.

Our Weekend

On Thursday my friend Regina stopped by to meet Grady!

Nothing better!

Thursday after work.

I love when he tilts his head back and hangs out!

Friday and ready for Ms. Becky’s!

We went out for dinner Friday night at The Liberty near our house.

Saturday morning we played and played. Did an alphabet puzzle that Aunt Emily brought her last weekend!

Kevin had a couple buddies over before they went to a concert that night.

I solo patented these two for the second time last week during bedtime by myself. During a thunderstorm. It was really thrilling let me tell ya!  No better way to learn ha!  It wasn’t bad honestly but it was a little crazy dealing with Mills acting like a nut and getting in Molly Anne’s bed with her!

Sunday morning help feeding Grady!

Molly Anne and I went to the pool after nap with Emme!

Emme has the best pool toys!

Margot and TJ took care of Molly Anne since I can’t get in the deep water for another month.  So nice!

My friend Lauren brought us the best dinner - chicken pie and mashed potatoes from Reid’s and the most fantastic green beans that she made!

My friend Hilary came over for a spur of the moment glass of wine on Sunday night.  Grady hung with us!

Monday the cleaning ladies unexpectedly showed up.  Anyway, we got out of the house and went to breakfast at Big View Diner for something different.  We stopped by Target and cruised through the express lane at Teeter for groceries on the way home.

“Mama look how strong I am!”

After nap we got dressed and went to Kevin’s parents for dinner!  The kiddos wore their red white and blue for Memorial Day!  Remembering those that gave all for our freedom!

Molly Anne played peekaboo with Uncle Tick!

Here’s to a new week!  Blogging from my phone so sorry this is short and sweet with a lot of pics!

Athleta Shorts

Ahh today is my due date!  I'm glad he's been here for 2 weeks and 2 days!

So I've been married to my Athleta Ready Set Go shorts since last year and I had planned to buy them in every color this year haha.  But of course they stopped making them.  While I was at the mall on Wednesday I stopped in the store and asked the girl for a similar fit and I landed on these.  I tried them on and had to get them in two colors.  I'm so excited to have some decent and pretty reasonable shorts to wear this summer!  Gray ones here and coral ones here.  Black are my old shorts.

I've never been a Lululemon fan but maybe I should try their stuff out again?  I had a pair of pants and a tank top from there and didn't love either.  Who knows!  I'm not the pickiest person for workout gear - I'm usually a Nike/Adidas/Under Armour girl.

Happy Friday!

This Week

Monday was our first day just the two of us!  Molly Anne will continue at Beckys this summer.  Anyway, on Monday I stayed in park as I really haven’t felt 100% and technically I wasn’t supposed to drive until yesterday.  I had plenty to do around the house though. Lots of laundry and getting things in order.  My friend Margot dropped dinner off and it was a much needed low key day!

Grady laying on the blanket that my brother and SIL gave him!  It’s Kissy Kissy and precious.

I did go pick up Molly Anne from Becky’s that day and it was nice to get out and feel semi back to normal.

Tuesday my friend Ashley brought me Starbucks and came to visit. We talked and talked for the longest time and it was much needed!

Lots of outfits changes happening here these days. Consequently a lot of laundry too!

My parent’s neighbors sent us this adorable elephant!  I took this picture to text and thank them informally!  I’ve done most of my thank you notes to this point but I’m about 6 behind right now.  On my list to do..!

Kevin grabbed Molly Anne for me on Tuesday so we got some time on the porch listening to music.  Grady fell right asleep!

I’m savoring every moment of these newborn snuggles.  I do not want to put him down.  I think it’s because I know it’s the last time I will have this!  I’m just not stressed this time about silly stuff so I’m enjoying every one of these moments!

Yesterday Grady and I went to the mall because I had some stuff to return that I had bought.  I got some new shorts that I’ll share tomorrow.  He was such a good boy and slept the whole time.  I fed him in a nice sitting area on the second floor of Nordstrom and not in the mother’s lounge.  I had seen another mom there an hour earlier and I stole her idea!

We also headed to Swoozies so i could order his baby book which will match Molly Anne’s. I will share when it arrives in 4-6 weeks!

Mom and Dad don’t miss a detail and they had the blue bow up the day he was born.  Also they had their neighbor put one on their mailbox at home. Such a fun way to celebrate and kinda announce too.  I had this one from before Molly Anne was born but I think Mom had them made at Michaels.

Wow it seems like the posts these days are all about Grady but I'm glad to be documenting our first days with him!  Molly Anne overall is doing okay.  She's back at Becky's this week which has been the best thing for her.  Monday she had sorta a rough day there and wasn't nice to some of her friends.  We had a talk about it and she was such a good girl Tuesday and Wednesday.  I think her world has been turned upside down and it's just causing her to not be herself.  She knows better for sure!  This too shall pass but for now, it makes me sad.  I know that having a sibling is a wonderful thing for her but time is what it will take.  We have been intentional with our moments with her and doing all of those things but my Dad said it best - the fact is, I will never be able to give her the same amount of time I did before Grady was born.  It's just the way it is.  Ugh....  But yes, she does love him, talks about him all of the time and kisses him constantly!

That’s this week so far!

A Few of Birth

Wanted to post the few pictures we have on the good camera from the day he was born!

Our first picture together!

Doctor with him!

Molly Anne fed him first, well sorta kinda.  I had fed him in the recovery room.
