Five on Friday

1.  This article is worth a read for you mamas out there.  It's SO true. - http://austin.citymomsblog.com/2016/04/20/stage-life-hard/

2.  My cousins spice drawer. She put them all in mason jars with chalkboard stickers.  No more trying to fit a tablespoon in that tiny container plus it's so easy to find what you need. Genius.

3.  I lovedddd getting to see this babydoll yesterday morning. I've gotten in a habit of every night going back in to check on her after she's been asleep for awhile. Or when I get home and haven't seen her in too long!

Love our afternoon hour that we get to play.

4.  I had the most FABULOUS flight attendant the other night. He ended up giving me a bottle of wine. Too nice. And it was on Delta, not even my beloved American!

5.  Mills is resting up for a big weekend we have ahead!

Boise

I've been in Boise and Salt Lake this week. Whirlwind one night away.  I'm
running nuts today and tmw. MA has a few scrapes on her face that I'm taking her to get looked at. Never a dull moment.  Got to see my cousins in Boise and loved spending time with them!!

Kara's Baby Shower

On Saturday I had the privilege of helping my friend Lisa throw a shower for our neighbor Kara!  Lisa picked the Gallery Restaurant at the Ballantyne Resort.  We had the private room and it was perfect!  I made the candles again and we had rattle cookies made for both as favors.  The cake was amazing...almond pound cake with no fondant, all buttercream icing.

We had a baby picture of Kara and Jeff along with a frame mat for people to sign and diapers for people to write on.

I asked for baby shower game ideas on Moms in Charge and one of them was this.... use white paper plates and put it on your head and draw a baby.  Whoever the hostess likes the best, wins.  Easy and so fun!  The 12 people there didn't all know each other so we wanted to do something fun but not tacky to fill the time.

Another game we did was Lisa asked Jeff a bunch of questions about Kara's pregnancy and how he thinks life will be like after baby.  Questions like - how many diapers will need to be changed a day...what was kara's biggest craving.  Then Kara had to guess what Jeff said!  Lisa printed the questions out for each guest to follow along too!

She got a lot of nice things!  We can't wait for this baby to arrive!  She's also due June 16th just like my friend Kelly!

That was the 3rd baby shower in 6 weeks that I've hosted.  I think Kevin may be ready for me to be around on Saturdays again but I LOVE hosting and going to baby showers!

Weekend and Mary Scott's Baptism

Whew, we had a busy weekend!  On Friday at lunch I got to go meet Miss Charlotte, April's new baby!  I'll let her post pictures of her doll first then I'll add some later.  Of course I had to put the bow in her yard that was used for our other girls.

Friday afternoon happy hour with my girl and buddy!

Spur of the moment we had friends over after Molly Anne was in the bed.  It was a big weekend for Mary Scott!

Kevin loved holding the special girl!  She was getting baptized on Sunday!  More on that in this post...

Yeah I fell.  And hard.  I was running from our patio to our driveway and fell over these huge concrete planters.  Ahhhh.  I've been limping around all weekend.  My nose is scraped all the way to my foot and my knee is the real problem. I knew after two gin and tonics that night that it still hurt badly and that I was going to be out of luck on Saturday morning.  Kevin had to lift me into bed that night.  Yes, I was right.  Miserable.

Scene of the crime!

Saturday morning with my girl!

Mills was up late with us so he was a tired boy all weekend recovering.

I helped host a baby shower Saturday morning...more on that tomorrow!

Saturday evening, we went with Kevin's parents to the fish camp!  It was her second time there but this was the first time she ate...she was only 7 weeks old before.  She loved it of course!

That night....obsessed.  She doesn't really sit still anymore so I loved when she laid her head on my shoulder.  After Molly Anne was in bed, I went to visit a couple of my neighbor's who were having people over.  I stayed out for a few hours and had too much fun!

Sunday was a special day.  Mary Scott was baptized and there was a get together afterwards to celebrate!  A little about Mary Scott...she was named after a friend of Mike's named Scott who gave the ultimate sacrifice so Mike could live when they were in the Army together.  Yesterday, we got to meet a few of Scott's good friends and it was incredibly humbling.  His parent's were going to come as well but weren't able to.  Sarah's sister said it best - "March of 2010, Scott laid his life down so that Mike could continue to live his.  Today, April 2016, we honored Scott by baptizing Mary Scott with him in our hearts and his name in hers."  Here are some pictures from the day...

Kevin's parents came!

Little Molly Anne!

Molly Anne, Mary Scott and Emmy!

These four!

I think this is the sweetest picture...

Molly Anne loved the cake!

xoxoxo

Mary Scott had to nap with her Whimsy, she had a big day!

What a weekend it was!  Here is my doll ready for Ms. Becky's this morning!  I miss her already.

Five on Friday - Shopping Cart and Pick up food

1.  Molly Anne had a fun day Wednesday.

She had bite size portions of pancakes at Ms. Beckys.  Starting to give her little pieces of food instead of all purée.  Actually we've kinda been doing this for a month but more often now. I'll probably stop making puréed food now. She's never had food completely smooth like true baby food so hopefully this will be pretty easy for her. Becky said it'll soon click for her to just pick up the food and put it in her mouth. And I'll just be paranoid that she doesn't choke.  Another phase!

2.  We like to play after work most days so this day we walked to Sarah's and played with she and Mary Scott!  Well some slept and others drank lime-a-ritas but..!

3.  Last night we went to Midwood for bbq. I had the best chopped salad with chicken. I'll be getting that again. So good.

Then to SAMs Club where MA rode in a shopping cart for the first time.

She fell asleep on the way home after all of the excitement!  Child loves any place where she can look at other things or people.

3.  Baby Mills.  We hang at night after Molly Anne goes to bed.  Hang at night = him following me all over the house as I get stuff done.

4.  I've started to think about Molly Anne's first birthday and I really don't know what to do for it.  I'm not sure all the hubbub is required for a first birthday party.  It's not like she even really understands so are all of big themed parties necessary for a one year old?  I'm leaning towards a family only party and have some cake for MA and call it a day.  And it's also tricky since it's July 4th - when do you do it - that weekend or the weekend before or after?

5.  I've had a rental car (aka a bus - Suburban) for a few days this week while our car gets fixed from getting hit in the parking lot the week after we got it in November.  I'm looking forward to getting our car back later today.

Happy Weekend!!!!!

Blah

Basically I don't have much to say this week and I'm running crazy.  I flew up to West Virginia yesterday, drove two hours to the construction site, spent 30 minutes there, drove two hours back to the airport then flew back to Charlotte.  Another day in paradise!

Got in last night but set my alarm for 4:36am and put two feet on the ground this morning as I literally rolled out of bed.  Felt good to get it done.

This little crabby is the highlight of every day!  She is officially on the move and is into it all!

Trying to figure out how to be a good mother, wife, friend, daughter, sister, aunt etc.........

Oh and how to build a house.  Trying to get plans finalized by next week.  Things are getting closer.  My friend Ashley has helped us SOOOO much!

That's what's up in my little world this week!

Low Key Weekend

Friday night our friends Sarah, Mike, Gigi and Mary Scott came over for a low key pizza night...

Molly Anne stayed up an hour past her bedtime but thankfully slept in that hour the next morning!

She kept grabbing my Landshark bottle even though she had her geoffy to chew on.  Crazy child!

Checking on her new friend Mary Scott!

And she stuffed this piece of pizza in her mouth.  Not kidding.  She had been eyeing it and went in for it.  Guess it was better than her green beans and carrots she had eaten ha!

Our friends left and Molly Anne went to bed.  We hung outside with Mills and called Kevin's Uncle Chris and talked to him for an hour!  Good times!

The next morning we went to a program honoring Vietnam veterans!

Kevin's Dad was honored!

Sarah was so sweet to attend!  It was so windy!

Saturday night Kevin's brother and a couple of his friends came over and we hung on the back patio again after Molly Anne went to bed.

Sunday we laid low and played most of the day.  Molly Anne and I went to the Farmer's Market then came home and grilled burgers, veggies and had corn.  I love summer dinners.

Molly Anne had some road rage last night and ripped the steering wheel out!

Back to the grind today.  I miss my girl a lot on Mondays so I hope 3:30pm gets here SOON!
