Weird Week and Two Meals

The corona virus has taken over and so much has happened this week. I had three trips over the next week and two of those trips have been canceled and one is still on the books. Our office suspended all travel so there’s that.  The other is personal so I’m not sure if that’s happening yet.

Then yesterday morning we woke up to news that we couldn’t drink the water in our county because of E. coli found in a routine test. So schools have been closed and we can’t use water to drink or wash hands. Ironic when we are supposed to be washing our hands for corona!

One:
Molly Anne is loving swim lessons at Charlotte Aquatics!

Two:
A moment of peace.

Three:
I cannot stop eating this. Like as in a few bags over the last 10 days.

Four:
Anyone follow @city.stems on Instagram?  Her arrangements are stunning!

Five:
It’s been so nice out so Wednesday and Thursday after school we have played outside.

And yesterday we cooked burgers for dinner. Had roasted broccoli and Arby’s curly fries with them. Balance.

Oh another dinner that was so good this week - uncooked, shrimp tossed in panko crumbs and boom boom sauce from Walmart!  Baked them with the panko for 10ish minutes then tossed with the sauce and served.  A little too spicy for the kids so they had plain panko shrimp.  We had shelled edamame and mandarin oranges on the side. It was a pretty plate and easy!  Grady loves some shrimp!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Saturday was a big day in our house!  Well, it started super early with a vet appointment for Mills to get some vaccines and check on a couple of things.

Then I took the kids to Home Depot for the kids workshop they do the first Saturday of every month.  This month's was canceled because of the coronavirus but I knew we could just pick up the kit and do it at home so that's what we did.  We also had to get some painters tape and they had fun roaming around.  I love a little girl in a Lilly dress hammering some wood!  She made some awesome binoculars and had the best time.  She did so well screwing the screws in and hammering the nails!

This buddy boy loved watching her.

When we put Grady down for his nap, Molly Anne and I went for manis and pedis to get ready for the Daddy Daughter dance!  She loved it!

Grady slept from 12-4:15 on Saturday so I had about an hour after Molly Anne's and my adventures to scoot out to the Weddington Methodist consignment sale as it ended.  I scored these TBBC shorts for $10 but that was all I found.  I did get to see an old college friend that I hadn't seen in too long so we got to catch up while I stood in line.

They got all ready for their big dance.  Molly Anne's favorite day of the year!  Corsage first!  She requested to have her hair curled then put half up half down!

Awwwww.

Pretty girl.

Love this picture!

Grady in all of his glory.

The girls next door!

Beauties!

Walking back home to get in the car and go!  She was sooooooo excited!

Hilary came over and we had a charcuterie board I made.  Grady went to bed and we caught up while her house was empty and my house was much quieter than usual.

The crew came home about 8:30pm and we got the girls in bed then hung out more.  Some other neighborhood friends joined.  We all stayed up way too late and with the time change, that didn't work out too well ha!

Yesterday we were in pajamas all.day.long. and played for hours in the playroom.  Grady took another super long nap while Molly Anne slept too and then we played out front for awhile last night.  It was so nice out.  Some neighbors came by and we had a good time.

Back to the grind today!

Five on Friday

One:
Molly Anne’s first swim lesson at Charlotte Aquatics. This makes the fourth swim school in Charlotte that we’ve tried over the years and I think the fourth is a charm. She learned so much from Leila in 30 minutes!  It’s super clean there too!

Two:

I made this skinny margarita the other night before I went out. I run a lime around the rim then put Trader Joe’s chili lime seasoning on it. Then fill the glass with ice. I fill it halfway with tequila (I’m a heavy pourer!), then almost to the top with lime la croix or a lime bubly then add a splash of orange juice. Top it with a lime and done!  Thank you Nina for this recipe!

Three:
Girls night with the bunco crew at Foxcroft!  Always good times with this crew!

Four:
Ready for her special day at school where she gets to be the line leader and take in a show and tell. Fortunately she decided against bringing this precious angel and brought Peanut Patch (a little dog) and a matching book instead!

Five:
Not sure where I’ve been but have you all heard of Lakeshore Learning?  Hopefully I’m not the last to know!  There is a store here in Charlotte (well, Matthews) and I finally was able to make it there this week. It is a teachers heaven and has sooooo many cool things!!  Lots of teaching games and educational toys. I showed the catalog they gave me to Molly Anne last night and basically everything in it she told me they have at school.

I picked up these things - blue organizer for her crafts, dry erase board and markers for her to work on her letters and making them all the same size and in a line, magic board for Grady to work on drawing while she does and the wikki stix for them to do together.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday!

Chit Chat

Every week is such a cluster these days.  I'm super busy with work.  So is Kevin and that's creating a bit of chaos right now.  But that ebbs and flows depending on both of our workloads at that exact moment.  Hoping for a little slow down on my end but that probably won't be happening in the next month.

Corona virus - so far, no travel restrictions in our company.  Anyone else?  Call us preppers but we always have a bunch of food, too much toilet paper and lots of paper towels.  I don't think it'll come to being quarantined but who knows.

Molly Anne is starting swim lessons again this week.  She's had lessons multiple times before (including a lot last year) but none of the group lessons really work for her.  I need her to be able to SWIM this year.  So I signed her up for private lessons that are very expensive but I think they'll be very effective for her.  This should get her to swim team in May and I've heard soooo many great things about swim team.  It'll be a sacrifice (and crazy schedule) to make it happen for her but I'm determined for her to have that experience and practice.

See above where I talk about her needing to be able to SWIM this year.  Yes, I'll have 2 year old Grady at the pool with me this year.  He will be a full time job.  Boy is crazy with zero fear!  I remember the same summer when Molly Anne was 2 but I only had her so it was fine.  This time, yep all eyes will be on deck!

Doing some summer planning.  Kevin won a trip we are going on so trying to figure that out with the kids.  Trying to figure out what we are doing in August when their daycare wraps up the year but Kindergarten hasn't started yet.  All of the things.

Daylight savings time is this weekend so I'm thrilled about another hour of light at night!

Booked a photographer to take some pictures of the four of us in a few weeks.  Need to figure out outfits for that.

Chat soon!

Favorite Athletic Clothes

Some friends were talking the other day about getting some new workout clothes so I decided it’d be a fun post to show you all my favorites! Two sections - one for cycling/running and one for the days when I’m not at work or need to be presentable.

For cycling and running:
I’m very particular about these outfits and I’ll tell you why. I want cool, comfortable and sweat wicking!

Outfit 1-
Sports Bra (similar) $20
Tank (new version is out)
The ole trusty Adidas climalite cropped leggings that I can’t find online anymore!

Outfit 2 -
Same sports bra as above
Tank - coolest (temperature wise) tank I own, size down
Pants - these are some amazon pants that I honestly don’t love so I’m not going to link. I love my adidas the best out of any I’ve tried!
Headband - Sweaty Bands

I had just gotten off my bike in this pic haha!  Red face!

Around town -
Same tops as above. I love Zella long sleeve shirts when Nordstrom has good ones. You have to snag those when you find them. This one is cute.

Leggings - these are my favorite in long length and 7/8 length. They’re great for running around town but too hot to workout in for me!

Shorts - I’ve been on the hunt for shorts that weren’t showing my toosh in the back (why are they all so short?!!) and these 4” ones are fabulous.  I must say, the white is pretty cool. I’d like to get blue for this summer.

Birthday and Baby Shower

On Friday I got my haircut. If you’re local I’ve been going to @andreaiveyhair in southpark and she is wonderful. She gets what is "in" and cuts some celebs hair in town too!  I feel like a new human and my hair has been so healthy since going to her!  Bonus is that I can walk to her studio from my office!

Friday night we celebrated Hilary’s birthday!

We had pizza from Mama’s Pizza in Indian Land and it was amazing!

We had a little too much fun. Well some of us did. Ha! We gave her a sharks tooth necklace, a sequined Danny Devito pillow and some fun earrings that were her real gift! We always do gag gifts with them and it’s always pretty amazing. Typically a funny inside joke. Kevin recently got for his birthday from them - a four pack of icehouse and four filet fish sandwiches from McDonalds. So funny. Maybe more funny if you lived next door to our circus!

Saturday afternoon I went to a baby shower for my friend Whitney! She lives in the neighborhood and had a little boy on the same day Grady was born. We had them by planned c-sections a few hours apart and by the same doc!  Kevin and Matt had met before the boys were born but I met Whitney in the hospital!  Wild story!  Anyway we are so excited to celebrate a new baby girl!

Whitney is the cutest ever!

Neighborhood friends!

We went to dinner after the shower with Kevin’s parents at City BBQ.

Grady thought the guy sitting down was my Dad and yelled Poppa across the restaurant for a long time!

Mills and I got this dog back to his owner Saturday night. He was running toward the main road and when I took this picture to post on Next Door, his owner heard me trying to grab him. It was about 10 minutes of convincing this dog to stay with Mills and I but glad it had a happy ending!

Sunday morning Kevin made us a big breakfast, I got some peloton in, he went to a car dealership to check on a car and to Sams. We just got some stuff done. Molly Anne did a zillion crafts.

Grady played with Mills and his matchbox cars.

She and I chilled when Grady napped.  I got some laundry done and a shower too.

Made a new recipe that my friend Nina gave me.  It's definitely a weekend recipe for me.  I wouldn't have the time after work but here it is if anyone is interested.  It was really good.  I used Smart Chicken instead of my ole trusty Perdue and I must say, it was delish.  Thank you Ashley for that recommendation!  Kevin and I had salads with ours and the kids had strawberries with theirs.

I used pecans instead of walnuts because that's what I had!

Hope everyone has a nice Monday.  We watched American Idol (yes Kevin joined me in watching this, can you believe it?) last night and I just love that show.  Between that and The Bachelor I'm a TV watching gal over here which is way far from what I usually watch ha!
