Weekend

Happy Valentine’s Day friends!!! No big plans in our house tonight. Molly Anne has tumbling and just regular dinner at home. Maybe a sweet treat!

Friday during the day Kevin and I went furniture shopping in High Point, NC to FurnitureLand South. More to come on that!

We had a fun Friday night and went to dinner with a couple of other families to our club then hung at our house for a bit.

Still wearing that perfect black dress I got in November! I’m 5’7” and it’s a good length. I wouldn’t wear it to work but it’s fine for going out on Friday night!

Mills always makes himself comfortable. He got a bath on Saturday because it was 72 and sunny so whenever I get the chance in January or February I take advantage!

Veggie line up for the week. Snuck a pear in there too. Also had a bunch of strawberries, avocado, some onion I cut for the recipes I’m making this week. We did some Super Bowl appetizers with these and I’m making chicken fajitas one night this week too. The prep work is done.

I had a question about how they all keep. I typically let them dry almost completely. Then I put them in regular ole Tupperware and into the appropriate drawer in our fridge. We have two fruit/veggie drawers. I keep one for salad mixes and stuff I haven’t cleaned yet. Then the other one I have all of our “cleaned” items - loose apples, oranges, pears, Tupperware containers and baggies of veggies. They usually all stay good for at least a week. It makes packing lunches wayyyyy easier during the week. And it also makes the fresh stuff get eaten. If it’s not cut, it won’t get eaten and we will go to the pantry and eat cheezits. It’s funny every weekend when I cut all of this, they all come to the kitchen and start snacking on all of the things!

When your sister can essentially fix anything and works on your tractor getting it back together after it tipped over!

We had a family dinner night out on Saturday and went to Duckworths. We saw one of Molly Anne’s Kindergarten teachers which was such a treat!

Sunday we did some superbowl appetizers and had our neighbors over for a casual hang per usual.

Low carb pizza - recipe at the bottom of the post
JalapeƱo dip - recipe coming tomorrow
Cheeseburger sliders on Hawaiian rolls

How about that halftime show?! So good! We let the kids stay up to watch it ha!

Now it’s Monday! Big work week ahead. Lots going on there these days. I’m drowning but surviving! ;)

Five on Friday - Birthday, Foot, Dock

ONE:
We celebrated Kevin’s birthday last night with his parents, brother and niece! Had Smoke Pit at their house. Anyone local had their food? It’s pretty much delicious!

A new shirt and jeans from us! Molly Anne wanted to get him a golden retriever hat and Grady wanted to get him a Sharkys shirt (one of our fav places at the beach) so we gave him those too!

TWO:
Molly Anne wore a lot of pink and red this week to school in anticipation of Valentines Day! She loves her Mills!

THREE:
I see this on our porch coffee table!!!!

FOUR:
After a few months of my foot killing me, I finally got it looked at. Taking some prednisone then antinflammatory and hoping for the best. Light exercise for two weeks yikes.

FIVE:
No more old wooden dock! Pilings set and new stationary piece is there. It will be made out of Titan Decking which is essentially plastic with a lifetime guarantee and doesn’t get hot for your feet. Aluminum edges around the dock and aluminum handles. We have thought about doing this project for 10 months and after a lot of research, we are pretty stoked to see it happening!

Happy Weekend! We have fun plans today and I will report in next week to give an update!

Loving This Week

Obsessed with this top and it’s $49!

I ordered this sweatshirt in one size up and it’s going to be so comfortable on these chilly days!

Carrie Underwood can do no wrong. I like this bathing suit.

Wearing my navy leggings instead of my usual black ones gives me an extra boost sometimes! On sale.

I think I need this tennis bag? I’m on the hunt and this is my favorite these days.

Conference and Early Birthday

It’s been a wild week in my world! I’ve been in Winston Salem, NC for an annual conference for one of my work clients! They had a fancy dinner on Monday night and we had so much fun! It was so great to meet with folks in person that traveled in from all over the country that we work with daily. Here is my coworker and I! She and I are double trouble ha.

We had an early birthday celebration for Kevin tonight with just the four of us. I saw they had this chocolate buckeye cookie (his fav) at Crumbl and had to pick it up! His birthday is tomorrow (Thursday)!

He really didn’t know we were doing this! Always fun though and the children loved it!

Weekend - 100 days and more

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

I thought Molly Anne looked so cute on Saturday morning. She looks like my niece!

Molly Anne dressed up on Friday like she was 100 years old for the 100th day of school!

Saturday morning Kevin took the kids to his parents to hang out and I worked out, got my nails done, returned some things, and stopped by Creative by Nature. Now I’ve decided I need this chest of drawers for my closet. It’s sooo pretty and I think reasonable. And yes it was a dream to have a few hours to get things done on Saturday!

On Saturday night we went to dinner at Firebirds (which we always forget about that place but it’s always so good). It was delish but my martini spilled all in my lap so that was exciting. Then we headed to Sams Club. Yep there’s a reason the kids and I never go with Kevin there. It was chaos! I’m much more into Target and Teeter drive up!

Sunday morning Kevin took Molly Anne to church and Grady and I got things done. First was Home Depot to get a couple of things.

We also dropped some work clothes by a place that gives them to women starting their career over and need some help in the clothes department. I cleaned my closet out in a major way and I’m glad to have the chance to give back to those that need it. And my closet looks wayyyy better. I still need to go through jeans and workout clothes.

I was able to sneak out for some tennis which is always good to do.

Molly Anne made an interactive TV during Grady’s nap that she shared with us. This girl has a lot going on in that head of hers.

We played with Grady’s monster truck outside and the kids scooted and rode bikes. It was cold but they must go outside!

Wrapped up the weekend with grilled chicken salad. Marinated the chicken with zesty Italian dressing.

Happy Monday to you all!

Loving This Week

This top comes in four colors and they’re all on sale. This material washes well (no dry cleaning!) and I dry mine too. Maybe you’re note supposed to do that but it’s real life. For $35 it’s a win.

I was thinking about my favorite jeans and how I really need to get another pair. They’re soft and so comfortable. Typically I hate wearing jeans and prefer my leggings but these I can do! Fit is true to size.

I bet these sandals become popular this year. Good price point.

First top I came to on Loft’s website and I love the pattern so much. Brand new and 30% off.

$22 fleece sweatshirt - yessss. Buy one size up and it would be extra comfy.

Reset

Good morning! I'm so glad it's February. January is a tough month for a lot of people and I can see why especially this year. It's been almost 2 years of this covid mess and I know everyone is over it. I had a freak out moment a couple of weeks ago because my biggest issue/burden is Grady's daycare. I know they're trying to do the best thing for everyone but dang I cannot keep a three year old home for a clear runny nose and no other symptoms.

The anxiety of taking him when he's perfect is almost too much because I know each day it could change and we are home for weeks on end. I almost rather not take him but that's not sustainable either. Anyway, this week he came to work with me. I had a bunch of markets on the coast of NC to visit for work so we got it done.

Honestly, this has been the best reset for me. I didn't know I needed it. Kevin has kept Molly Anne at home so she can go to school and I brought the boys to the beach. I belong in the salty air. It's good for me. I'm thankful for this place that we have so I could do this. More thankful than I can express.

We also had a big project at work sell yesterday. It's been a 7 year project and I worked on it for only half of that time but it took up A LOT of my life in more ways than one. It feels REALLY good to not have that project on the plate anymore. Huge relief. We are going to celebrate big too.
