Five on Friday

1. Be sure to follow Justine @fullshandsfullheart_fit4life on Instagram. She’s full of positivity and wonderfulness. She lives in Raleigh and had five children. One thing I love about her is that she simplifies life and doesn’t complicate things…like meal planning.

2. I was at Nordstrom the other day and these P448s caught my eye. I haven’t seen a pair of sneakers that I really love in awhile until these. They’re sooo cool!

3. Anyone see decorating a teacher’s door for Valentines? This is my inspo for next week. Molly Anne and I made all of the hearts one night this week.

4. I reached out to one of my friends to find out what face lotion she uses and this was one of her suggestions. I have used it for a week now and really love it. I had to retire my expired Neutrogena and wanted to try something new. This is expensive but it’s light, doesn’t smell and you don’t have to use much so this should last awhile. It’s Beautycounter’s middle of the line lotion.

5. This is one of the perfumes I got at Nordstrom the other day. It smells beachy and amazing for this spring and summer. I also got this scent in the roller to see if I really like it (they only have the roller in store). So far so good! I don’t know about y’all but I get stuck in a rut of only liking the same things and never trying anything different. It’s nice to try something new!

Glassware

I have high intentions of upping our bar game this year and having a few extra fun glasses to drink out of at home! We still use our "wedding" glassware and it's still fabulous and timeless. I just think it would be extra special to have some cool glasses! These would also be wonderful gifts for a girlfriend.

ONE - set of 4 is $54

TWO - happy hour by the pool with these acrylic blue glasses, $10/each

THREE - champagne in this? yes.

FOUR - acrylic $14/each via amazon

FIVE - love the gold rim

Random Wednesday

1. I think the start of a new year looks different for everyone. You can have these big goals that are attainable or unattainable. Or you can just do what works for you. For me, it’s controlling what I can control. If I can clean out a drawer that makes life easier for me later, it’s a good thing. Right now I cannot commit to losing 50 pounds, exercising for an hour a day or being the best friend to everyone I know. Doing my best and I gotta be okay with that!

2. I made this chicken tortilla soup in the crockpot on Monday. The kids liked it mainly because any time I let them put their own toppings on, they’re in.

3. One day I took my lunch to work this week. That's a record. Usually I eat out at Yafo or Chipotle. And I always eat whatever lunch I have, at my desk.

4. I recently snagged some new perfume from Nordstrom. I had been wanting new perfume for at least 3 years and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I took the plunge. The lady that helped me was super knowledgeable on her fragrances! Will share soon.

5. I got a pair of Hoka running shoes and I'll be honest, I can't get on board. I got them mainly to hang around in, not real exercise. I've told you all before how I feel about real exercise - you must get fitted at a running store for shoes! But these Hokas weren't for me. Returning and looking for something else!

6. Sent out sign up genius links for both Molly Anne and Grady's classes this week for Valentine's Day parties. May as well get organized sooner rather than later! Always a good idea to ask for help!

What is going on in your world?!

Valentines

I know, I'm crazy but I've already figured out Grady's valentines. Partly because I wanted it done and partly because it's his last year in preschool (I think) and I wanted them to be extra cute.

I've always wanted to do the tackle boxes that you see online with the gummy worms in them but I've never done it for some reason! I had Grady choose from a few different options and he chose this so I knew it was meant to be this year!

I haven't put the gummy worms in the boxes yet because I don't want them to get hard but I'll do that in February! Here are the links:

1. 3"x3" tags - print at FedEx then have your 7 year old cut them out! Katie Corley has a great option for these too if you prefer to have them already printed and sent to you.
3. Tackle boxes - the dividers are removable so you can make longer areas for the worms

EASY, even I can do them! :)

90’s Party and First Basketball Game

On Friday night we went to our neighbors Brad and Natasha’s for their 90’s birthday party! It was a good time! Kevin and I are not typically dress up people but the night before the party, I thought back to the 90’s and what I did during that time. I went on my parents boat called the Nail Byter every weekend! I pulled out my “Nail Byter” sweatshirt and wore that for the preppy 90s outfit with a fav tennis skirt! Easy, comfortable and done!

Saturday morning Molly Anne had her first basketball of the season at the Y! She’s been practicing every Monday night so this was fun for her to finally get to play a game!

Her biggest fan! He loved watching!

She ended up scoring a basket and had a couple of assists! It was awesome!

Here’s to a great season of ball for her!

We went to Southpark during the day on Saturday and had lunch at Pacos Tacos. That night we went out to Red Sake for sushi. Basically all we did this weekend was eat out ha! Went to the club for Sunday brunch yesterday. Saw a bunch of friends there which is always fun and why we love the club so much.

Hope everyone has a good week. I’m still trying to get my 2023 world going. I feel like I started the year pretty organized but I have so much work stuff going on right now that I’m consumed by it during the week. I’m also trying to figure out the kid’s spring activities, Grady going to Kindergarten or not and what’s going to go on this summer. Lots to think about and get right in my head. Anyone else feel me on all that?! I need to do a working mom post! I feel like it’s changed over the years!

Five on Friday

1. The rock at school had to be painted! She wouldn’t get to do this if she didn’t do it for her half birthday because of summer! And this is a big deal to my Molly Annie! Kindergarten year I paid someone to paint it. Last year I painted it and then couldn’t write for 3 days from pressing the spray paint can. This year I enlisted help and she loved doing it! And of course Grady came and ended up with neon pink paint on his pants. Thanks to my friend Candice who had someone paint it for her daughter earlier in the week. Molly Anne was so happy that there was already a dog there for Elle so we kept it!

2. This picture of them coming out of swim practice cracks me up! I got her this swim coat for Christmas and it is wonderful! Keeps her warm on the chilly days! Grady had been at swim too!

3. The gentleman, always holding the doors open and wanting to carry boxes!

4. I've worked A LOT this week. Honestly playing some catch up from the holidays but mostly because I have a zillion projects and a lot going on with them. Goes in phases so I'll take it and just get it done. Grind time!

5. Anyone else following the Idaho college crime and this guy that was arrested in Pennsylvania? I cannot stop reading articles about it. His parents live in a very small town where I built a Tractor Supply years ago so I'm familiar with the area. Wild! I just can't get over the whole thing. I'm sure there's more to the story but why didn't the roommate call 911 when she saw him in their house?! Lots of reasons I'm sure but so scary, all of it!

Shopping the Lilly sale? I bet they add new styles today!

Keeping Things Organized

Yep, it’s the new year and we should all have our house perfectly organized, right?! Let’s be realistic, we can do a little along the way that makes a big impact!

These are a few things that have helped Molly Anne and I get better organized and hope they do the same for you. They’re all from Amazon and less than $20 each and have made a big difference for us!
