Austin, TX Day One

We had a wonderful time visiting Kevin's Uncle and Aunt in Austin this past weekend.  We flew in on Saturday morning and headed straight to Curra's for lunch - mexican!

(PS - no Kevin and I did not plan to wear the same outfit, tried to get him to change before leaving for the airport but didn't happen haha)
Uncle Chris took us on the grand tour of Austin and showed us all the hot spots including South Congress Street below facing downtown.
Then we drove down 6th street and checked things out.
Chris was a top notch professor/chair at UT but is now moving to another university.  He showed us around the UT campus.  Gorgeous architecture.
Then we went to Mount Bonnell which is an amazing lookout spot.  You can see downtown Austin in the background.
We also went up to Lake Travis - beautiful lake that we definitely wanted to check out because my Dad told us he had sailed on it.  Very cool.

For dinner we headed to Ruby's BBQ.  Best brisket you've ever had.  Seriously.
We went to the Broken Spoke after dinner to listen the Derailers but we ended up not staying around but they had a cool little touristy spot with all of these old timey singers and George Strait!
Chris gave us a huge history lesson on everything Austin related and beyond.  It was great to have Chris show us around because he's lived there for almost 20 years and knows everything about everything, no joke.

I'm in the US Air club now heading up to NYC then driving out to PA for a night meeting.  Going to try to make it down to my parents house in MD if the meeting doesn't go too late.  Therefore, my internet will be limited this week but I'll be catching up on yall soon!
