Wedding Weekend

We had a blast this past weekend with a lot of family in town!

Mom and I of course found time to go to the mall for about 30 minutes and she found some wedding shoes!

Dad loved hanging with ole Mills!  And Mills went into their bedroom this morning looking for them.  He jumped on their bed and expected to be loved on.  Poor guy misses his grandparents.

Last Thursday night we had the tasting at City Club where our reception will be.

Like our reception will be, the food was great and the drinks were flowing.  A good time had by all!

My sister in law Emily loved on Mills too!  Who couldn't love on Mills?!  I mean look at him!

The rest of our fam came over to our house on Friday night - my Aunt from Florida and cousin from Richmond!

Saturday was the bridal shower!  Saturday night we celebrated three birthdays - Kevin's, Emily's and my Aunt Susan's!

We all had a big time.  Perhaps we need some more chairs?  ...as Kev sits in an outdoor chair haha.  And we're working on hanging frames too.  When you move from a one bedroom condo, you don't have much to fill up the walls.

The three of them each opened a present.  Kevin got his ugly congrats paper that he contributed to my wrapping collection.  Congrats on turning a year older....ha!  He doesn't care what it looks like.  For goodness sake, the next day I gave him a gift in a Lilly bag and another in a Tory Burch bag!

After the cake and gifts, we headed outside to do shoot beer cans off the Lowes bucket.  Standard procedure when we have folks over.

And of course Kevin had a fire going.

My brother made up this style, "gangsta!"

My SIL had it right!

Then my Mama got up in there!  Look at her!

Sunday morning I made an easy breakfast - egg and sausage casserole with cinnamon buns and Emily and Laura drove back home.  Mom and I had an appointment with the organist and soloist at the church.  They are going to be wonderful!

Sunday night we went to dinner for Kevin's birthday as you saw yesterday!

Mom and Dad left on Monday and of course we were all sad to see them go.  The good thing is that we will be in Maryland soon enough visiting with them again!

Kevin's Birthday!

I can't begin to recap the weekend starting last Thursday night yet.  It was so much fun and I can't wait to tell you all about it.  I have to wait for all of the great pictures my cousin took first.  Well maybe I can recap everything but the bridal shower...that's what I'll do.

But first, let's talk Kevin's birthday which was yesterday!

We had the best time celebrating him.  He received a couple Lowes gift cards from his family, a wheelbarrow, allen wrenches and a ladder from my parents and I gave him some Bonobo pants, an iPod, an arm holder for the iPod and a bike pump!

We celebrated at Kevin's favorite place - Midwood Smokehouse last night!  His parents, brother, SIL and niece and my parents, Kevin and I.  We were stuffed to the brim when we left.

Happy 21st to Kev!  ;)

On Food and Drink

We all know it's a constant struggle every day with what we eat and drink to stay healthy.  I know it is for me at least.

Hmmm plain carrots or junk food?  Yeah, let me think about it.

But something my friends Tara, Kristen and I talked about when we ran a lot was that we need to eat clean.  Whole grains, vegetables, fruit.  We always feel better when we eat this way, instead of a breaded chicken sandwich and french fries.  It keeps us fuller longer and makes us feel better about ourselves and is best for our long term health.

Why is that so hard to comprehend?  I don't know, but it is for me!

Why are pizza and beer so good?

I'm a big believer in portion control.  And I'm also a big believer in splurging every once in awhile.  But not every day!  Last Friday night we went to the fish camp.  Ladies and gents - that was a splurge, despite my baked potato instead of fries.  The fried shrimp, three hushpuppies and slaw - splurge!  But worth it!  I made sure to walk and run this past weekend and I cut back in other areas.

You can't be so strict on yourself all of the time, but making sure we are healthy is important.

Let's be honest, I'm no nutritional pro but I did learn some things from my Mama growing up about eating veggies, fruits and greens things instead of anything white (usually bad)!

Am I trying to be that crazy bride that loses 20 pounds before her wedding?  No.  Although that'd be nice, I want to look like me!  Am I trying to be really careful about what I consume between now and the next 60 days?  Yes!  But I'm not killing myself over it.

Just thought I'd write about something that I think we all struggle with daily.  I know I do.

Wedding Wednesday - Invitations are out!

Mom and Dad mailed the invitations yesterday!  It seems so much more real now!

Yes I requested this picture haha!  My Dad's a good sport to ask the postmaster if he can take a picture of her!

We have lots of family and friends coming into town starting tonight for a fun wedding weekend!  Our tasting is Thursday night, makeup/hair trials and dress fitting on Friday and a bridal shower hosted by Lauren, Tara and Emily on Saturday!

Tonight I'll be putting my white bow on the mailbox and Mills will wear his new white collar for round one wedding weekend!

Let's get this party started!

Mills is 5 months!

Since this is my journal of some sorts, I want to keep track of how much Mills has grown.  So today, is all about Mills and all 48.7 pounds of him!  He has been gaining 3 pounds a week since January.  Most of his puppy fur is gone - AKA I use the dustbuster on the floors 80 times a day.

But he's soooo cute so who cares!  Maybe I'm just biased haha.  He loves looking at himself in this mirror we haven't hung yet (until we get furniture).

Those paws!  I can't stand it!

On his way to camp today and he loves playing with my sunglasses hanging from my rear view.

Walks in the neighborhood are his very favorite thing to do.  He LOVES being outside!

Yeah, I love my pooch!  ;)

Weekend!

On Friday I told you all I was going to try fake lashes.  That didn't happen, instead Tara had an appointment for me to get my brows done.  I know, I know, I'm 30 years old and had never had this done.  I'm terrible.

But now I can say I've done it!

Mother says no fake lashes for the wedding.  Kevin says no fake lashes for the wedding.  I am meeting my makeup gal on Friday for my trial.  Should be interesting!

Friday night - frozen pizzas on paper plates at our house.  Kevin's parents, brother and niece came over.

Saturday morning - Mills had his final sign off from the Vet and is no longer a cone head.  I wanted to make Saturday about him since he had been miserable for 10 days.  He got a bath, brushed and walked.  He loved every second of it.  After Kevin going into the office for a couple of hours, he came home and made a fire and we just hung out.  We headed on down to the fish camp for dinner.  Kevin and I were going to go "out out" but last minute decided to be low key.

Sunday - we went to brunch at Toast - ah-mazing.  It was our first time and we aren't sure why after that breakfast!  We ran errands to Jos A Bank for Kevin to get fitted for his tux and to Staples for his office stuff.  I made a couple dips for our dinner and to watch the Superbowl.  We were invited to 3 different parties but decided to just stay home.  I was able to get a bunch of wedding stuff done (I counted, I've written 30+ notes just to give gifts to others between now and wedding day!).   It's like Christmas for me - I LOVE giving gifts!

Hope everyone enjoyed watching the Ravens win!  I will admit, I was not awake after midway through the 3rd quarter.  Oh well!

Whew

Thank you for all of your sweet comments yesterday about Kevin.  I am VERY excited for him!

Whew it's been a crazy week and I'm ready for the weekend.

Today at lunch my friend Tara and I are going to the benefit counter at Belk.  She thinks it would be fun to look at fake eyelashes haha!  I received an email from her early this morning tell me to have an open mind.  She knows me too well...

Tomorrow morning Mills has his follow up vet appointment from becoming a cone head ;).  Poor guy, he's so sick of the cone and I know he'll get a good report from his friends at the Vet.

And I can't wait to not have to deal with the cone and we can hopefully get back to our walks together.  I've missed walking the neighborhood with him.  Well he prances and I walk or run.  Ha!

In other news, he did fetch his first newspaper earlier this week as some of you saw on FB.

Happy Weekend to everyone!
