Last Thursday, we bought our wedding bands. Yes it's a little early but our lil shop we go to had their annual 20% off sale so we wanted to get them then! And boy was it worth it!
We both got plain gold bands. Kevin wanted gold with the tiny edging on it - do you all know what I'm talking about? It's classic.
And I wanted gold to match my engagement ring of course! I didn't want diamonds in it because I didn't want it to take away from my engagement ring diamond. It's just what I wanted...I think all diamonds are pretty though so nothing against any of yalls!
So we bought the rings and left them at the store for safe keeping until February. Then we'll figure out engraving and sizing. The sizes are pretty close now -- I probably won't do anything to mine but Kevin may get his sized down a little bit.
And by the way - Kevin got the good end of the deal on this purchase. His ring has a lot more gold on it if ya know what I mean!!! Now yes, he did buy that rock on my left hand though! ;) We had a good time cracking up about this in the shop!
Tell me how we're supposed to engrave them! I know everyone does it differently and I'm curious how yall did yours or how you will do yours!
I have gold rings, too, which I know is rare these days. My band is tiny and perfectly plain and was worn by my grandmother and her grandmother before her. There's nothing engraved on mine, but on Dan's I had the nickname I call him and our wedding date.
ReplyDeleteCorey and I had each other's bands engraved but we didn't tell each other what we were putting inside. It was such a sweet surprise to see what two or three words were chosen for such a special ring.
ReplyDeleteGold rings are so classic, love it! I sometimes wish I went with gold. Mine are platinum but my engagement ring has been a nightmare of a story! Rule #1: No matter what anyone tells you, you canNOT size platinum. Anyways, we didn't have ours engraved, which is a good thing. Husband keeps losing his on the boat while out fishing. His are no longer of expensive nature! :-)
ReplyDeleteGold rings were the choice my husband and I made 23 years ago. We consider them classic without ever going out of style. Our rings bear the engraving of our initials to each other and our wedding date. XYZ to ABC 10/10/88. Wishing you the very best!
ReplyDeletewhat great timing for this post! we're going on saturday to look at bands! i have a feeling i'm going to be shocked at what a simple gold band costs for him...
ReplyDeleteI do think Kevin definitely lucked out! ;) I've been thinking of what to have engraved for a long time. Love the idea of having that be a surprise!
ReplyDeleteSmart planning to get them while the store was having the sale! Engraving would be a perfect finishing touch :)
