Favorites of Fall

Honestly, I have a really hard time liking fall because it means cold weather is coming.  I could live year round in sundresses!  :)  But there are a few things that I like about fall including these...

Probably my most comfortable shoes besides my flops.  Won't be breaking these out until November but can't wait.

The leaves changing!  Hopefully Kevin and I can make a day trip to Asheville, NC to check out the leaves.  We did this last year and ended up spending a few hours at the J. Crew clearance center.  Poor Kevin. ;)
Pumpkin spice latte.  I'm going up to Norfolk, VA today and hopefully one of these is in my future!
NC State football!  I love football season!  When the crisp air comes, it is only natural to attend football games!
Happy Fall!  What makes you think of Fall?

Tracy Negoshian

While we were at Chesapeake Bay Outfitters, Mom and I spotted some adorable dresses.  They were by Tracy Negoshian.  Ever heard of her brand?

I finally put two and two together and remembered seeing them on Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore's blog.

They have a super cute line and everything is reasonably priced.

Tunic is on sale for $59.50 right now.
I believe this dress was $112.  How fun for an NC State game?!

Maryland

On Friday, Kevin and I went over to Fenwick Island, DE and had lunch at Harpoon Hanna's on the water.  This is outside of it.  Kevin got a rockfish wrap and I got shrimp salad in a tomato.
Then we went up through Bethany Beach, Dewey and walked around the Rehobeth shops downtown.  We enjoyed running in and out of those even though it was SO hot.
I loved this shop and hadn't been in there before.  Mod Cottage.  Adorable things.
Including this Michael Healy crab door knocker.  Gorgeous.
Friday night we went and picked crabs with my parents at Old Mill.  A tradition.

Saturday morning we headed over to Oxford and St. Michaels, Maryland.  The below picture is an example of the gorgeous houses there (minus the blue tarp!).
We loved how you drive by these little lanes and you can see a sailboat on the water in the background.
We hopped on the Oxford/Bellevue ferry over to St. Michaels.  They were having an antique car convention type thing so we got to check out some cars from the 1930's and older.  Pretty cool.
On the dock waiting for the ferry...
 This was the ferry!
Took lots of neat pictures that we may put in a frame.
There was this Mercedes SL5 or something like that.  Evidently there were only a few hundred let into the USA.  It was pretty cool but I think Kevin liked it much more than me haha!
We got over to St. Michaels and had a soft shell crab sandwich and a Crab Claw ale at Crab Claw.  A St. Michael's must do place for lunch.
 Mom and Dad being funny!
There they are walking the streets of gorgeous St. Michaels and checking out some mums.
This was my favorite store.  They had lots of VERY cute goodies!  ;)
We headed back to Charlotte yesterday afternoon in time to get ready for the week.  Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Ahhh, blogger won't upload the pictures vertically like they are saved.  What is going on?!

Maryland for the weekend

Yesterday we flew up to my parents house on the eastern shore of Maryland.

Last night Kevin went to Rotary with my Dad and Mom and I went out for dinner.  Very fun!

Today Kevin and I are going to head down to Ocean City for lunch on the water and beach time.  :)  Picking crabs tonight!  Woohoo!

Yall have a great weekend!

Fall clothes

Just starting to get in the mode of fall clothes.  It makes me so sad to put away all my bright summer clothes but come October 1, I have to do it!  These are some essentials that come to mind for the next few months...

In March, I asked for help on jeans and thanks to Tales From My Empty Nest, I'm now obsessed with these Matchstick jeans from J. Crew.  Must have.
Love this dress for a work meeting.  I'd wear a cardigan to cover my shoulders!
I seriously live in the J. Crew Jackie Cardigan sets.  I love them for traveling because they are comfortable, look professional and you don't have to dry clean them when you get off that icky plane!
Pencil skirts - and not with those shoes/socks.  Pair it with a crisp white button down and some heels for work.
What are your essentials and basics?

PS - I don't know what is going on with the spacing from when I create the post to when it publishes.  It drives me nuts!  Still working on it!

Travel

As this post is published, I'm driving up from Charlotte with a co-worker to:

See the red dot?  Jonesville.  Anyone ever heard of it?

Didn't think so!  Ha!

It is a very small town in southwestern Virginia, near where Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee come together.

We are looking a putting a couple national tenants there.  We'll see how it works out!

Panther's Game and Weekend

Did everyone have a great weekend?  They always go by too quickly!

After last week, I really was looking forward to some chill time.  Friday night we went to dinner with Kevin's parents - a mexican place we hadn't been to before.  It was good and something different.

On Saturday, we ran errands - Kev got a new pair of running shoes (finally) then we got ready for a low country boil at my house.  His family came up from Waxhaw.  After an early dinner, we walked around downtown.  It was very entertaining as it was the Lady Gaga concert that evening - whoa, there were some outfits!!!  It was hilarious.

Sunday we went to the Panther's game versus Tampa Bay.  Unfortunately it was a loss but we had a great time.
They had a flyover.  You can see the guys by the South Carolina flag calling them in.
And there they are!
It was Kevin's parents anniversary yesterday - 39 years!!!
It was VERY hot out there.  This was at the end of the game so we were gross at this point!  We still had a great time.
Then we just walked a few blocks home, we love living downtown when these type of events are going on.  So convenient!

Flying Stories

I feel like everyone has one of those 'oh my goodness' stories about flying.

Mine was a couple years ago, I was going up to Pittsburg for a work meeting.  The plane had almost landed but found it wasn't safe to do so with the ground conditions so it went back up again.  Let's just say, it was not a gentle transition.  We ended up landing somewhere in Ohio and eventually made it to Pittsburg.  Oh my!

What is your story?

Whew!

The past two days have been insane!

I flew up to Baltimore on Tuesday morning at 7:55.  That began about 20 hours of driving in two days and a ton of meetings.  Just for my record, this is what I did with three other co-workers:

1.  Looked at site in Buck, PA
2.  Met with seller and engineers in New Holland, PA
3.  Looked at site in Dillsburg, PA
4.  Looked at site in Upper Marlboro, MD
5.  Spent the night in Chesapeake, VA
6.  Looked at site in Chesapeake, VA and met with seller
7.  Went to Chesapeake's attorney's office to present offer
8.  Met with seller and engineers in Smithfield, VA
9.  Met Williamsburg, VA seller for lunch
10.  Met with the County in Williamsburg, VA
11.  Looked at sites in Emporia, VA
12.  Drove back to Charlotte, NC

Happy that we got so much done but glad to be home!!!!!!!

And today is game day - Go NC State!

Anna Kate's Catfish!

Anna Kate went fishing with her Daddy (my brother) and her Barbie fishing rod last weekend.
And she caught a catfish!
She got so excited that she ran away giggling!
There it is!
Good job Anna Kate!

Kevin's Birthdays!

So the story goes like this.  There are 4 Kevin's that live in our building.  They all work(ed) at Bank of America for years until my Kevin left in April.  Three of the four Kevin's live on the same floor.

Last week it was Kevin M.'s birthday.  Lizzy put together a surprise birthday dinner for him at Basil.  He was so surprised!
Molly and Teddy.  They are presch.
Kevin and I.
The whole group!
Then we headed to Ri Ra and hung out on the patio.  Here are the girls - Lisa, Lizzy, me, Molly.
Kevin, me, Lisa, Drew, Lizzy and Kevin.  Thank you all for inviting us!  We had the best time meeting your friends!

Then on Saturday night was Kevin M's birthday.  His wife Elena through him a huge birthday party on the 10th floor of our building.
They had it catered with a low country boil and steaks off the grill.  So good.
This was the yum cake.  Kevin rowed growing up and those are the designs of each team.  Also is a 2000 bottle of Dom Perignon that one of his family members gave him.  And he shared it with everyone - how nice was that?!!
Here are three of the four Kevin's and their girls.  :)
It was a great weekend and yesterday we relaxed and watched some football.

KMG

Last night we went out and grabbed a drink to celebrate Kevin having an awesome week at work!

Note: the above picture was not last night, it was on Monday as we headed back from Austin.

When we got back to Avenue, this was the conversation as we said goodnight:

Kevin:  I love you.
Me:  I love you too.
Kevin:  I like you more than my favorite baseball card.
Me:  Oh my, you aren't right!

Another reason I think Kevin is the best.

Skirt Bargain

YALL!  Last week I had a few minutes so I ran into TJ Maxx.  Look what I found.  A Michael Kors skirt that was super cute.  Originally $89.50.  Guess how much I got it for?

$5.

Yes you read that correctly.

Today I paired it with a salmon/pink shell and a black cardigan.  Don't you just love finding bargains like that?!

Sunday in Austin

On Sunday morning we got up and Kevin and I went walking on the trail behind his Uncle's house.  It is a long greenway type trail along the creek.  Tons of mountain bikers, runners and walkers.  The houses up on the cliffs are gorgeous and rumor has it that Sandra Bullock used to live a few doors down.
Then we went to the famous Threadgill's for their Sunday Gospel Brunch.  Let me tell yall - this group broke it down.  They were great!
We all decided we should have taken the picture before brunch haha!
Then we went for a walk on South Congress Street.  We went into several of the shops and checked things out.  Allen Boots seriously had the most amazing selection of cowboy boots.  Of course the pair I picked out were $899.
Well hellooooooo BF!!!!  Someone looks HOT in a cowboy hat!!!!
Later that day, we had some peach margaritas then went to Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon to watch the Dale Watson Band.  Down home country.
Then we went to Artz Ribs for the top 10 best ribs in America.  We even got to meet Art (it is called Artz because his wife's first name starts with a Z).  We listened to a great band called The Texas Swing Kings.
Afterward we headed to the Continental Club.  We had missed most of the band we wanted to see so we elected to go to Saxon Pub for this band who played songs by Stephen Bruton.
We bought a CD and got it signed by the band members and a picture with the lead singer who had SO MUCH energy.  His name is Malford Milligan.
Then we headed back to the Continental Club for Haybale.  The guitarist on the left was Merle Haggard's for some time.
The keyboarder on the far right was Johnny Cash's.  Needless to say, they were outstanding.
Then we ended the night around midnight - whew long day!  As you can see, we really did get all the inside scoop from Chris and Sharon!
