Mother's Day Weekend

I was on a group text with a bunch of girlfriend's last week and we were talking about having low expectations for Mother's Day weekend.  Guys just don't get it and unless they are told exactly what we want, they aren't mind readers.  I will say, the only thing I truly wanted or wanted to do was to go on a family walk.  And we did that, sorta.  Otherwise, Molly Anne and I had a nice weekend of playing, going outside with Mills and running a couple errands.

Molly Anne made me this at Ms. Becky's on Friday.  I just LOVE it.  So sweet.  The girls also made muffins and that's what the package is!

Friday night we went to dinner with my friend from high school in Maryland that also lives in Charlotte.  I have no clue why we haven't gotten together sooner.  It's taken us 10 years.  Crazy.  We will be hanging out again soon.  This missy got dressed up in her tunic that Camille let her borrow! ;)

Came home and sat on the patio for a bit with Mills.

Saturday Molly Anne and I played and played.  My parents had gotten her this bubble machine and the flower dances and plays music.  She LOVES it.  That morning we had gone to Toys R Us for her first time so we could exchange it for one that worked...haha!  The batteries had corroded in the first one.  We had snack time and played bubbles on the porch after her afternoon nap.

That night the three of us went to dinner at Bad Daddy's where this little squirt ate an entire kids meal of grilled cheese and sweet potato fries!

I got a mozzarella burger and a side salad.  I had never tried anything new so this was something different and if yall haven't had a bad daddy's salad, you're missing out!

When we got home, I put Molly Anne to bed and hung out on the back patio for awhile.  I decided to head down to our clubhouse to the neighborhood party for a little bit.

Sunday - Mother's Day.  I got up with Molly Anne bright and early after a late night out!  I'd rather be with her than laying in bed anyway.

I'm so thankful for my Mama and all she's done for us.  I get it now more than ever what it took for Mom to be our Mom.  And I'm thankful that she's here to teach me how to be a Mom.  I still call her daily - "what should I do about this?"  She always has the right answers.  I wish I could have been with her on Mother's Day.  I am hoping to get up there in the next few weeks to see them.

Missy decided not to take a morning nap...but she did stay in her crib for an hour of "quiet time."  AKA squealing and playing with baby duck.  We got ready to go to Kevin's parent's club for brunch at noon.

Kevin gave me a really nice card and so did Molly Anne.  He also stuck a massage envy gift card in there.

It was nice as always to be with them...my other parents!  Thankful for his Mama who raised Kevin and still is raising him! ;)

No, I didn't get a picture of my girl and I on Mother's Day in our best but I did get one later that day on the playground.  Ah...

Oh, here is what we gave each of our Moms.  A watercolor of our favorite little girl made by Inna!

That afternoon Mills and I had an important mission - take a meal to a friend who just had a baby!  He loved riding with the sunroof open!

Then to our family walk...to the playground.  I get so much joy out of seeing Molly Anne have fun!

So proud to be her Mama.

Then last night Ms. Becky's texted me this that she had taken last week!  Made my day!

And it's Monday morning....

I think in this social media world that it's easy to see these pictures and think it was a wonderful weekend and what more could I have wanted.  And don't get me wrong - I LOVED being with my Molly Anne.  She and I spent a lot of quality time together.  That's all that matters at the end of the day and makes my world go round.  It is also hard to be away from your own parents on "holidays" like this.

Today is a new day and I'm excited to start a new week.  I'm not traveling this week so I'm very happy about that.

Moral of the story - don't always believe the pictures everyone posts on their happy go lucky blog and think their life is amazing and that yours doesn't compare!  We have to be happy in our own little worlds!

  1. I totally get what you mean when you say how misleading the "happy blog world" can be ...nothing is perfect! That being said, Happy Mother's Day friend, you are SO blessed :)

  2. So true. Comparison is the thief of joy. I love social media but it is not always an honest picture.

  4. You're spot on about comparison being the thief of joy - and your weekend truly looked joyful! I'm realllly obsessed with MA in her white jeans, and I'm just in love with the watercolor print. I'm going to pin that and replicate that gift for my parents (if you don't mind me being a thief of your amazing gift idea!)

  5. Such a great weekend! And I must say Molly Anne has just got the most FAB wardrobe! I got Sully a pair of the baby Jacks, but she's almost grown out of them the minute we got them and there's no really in-between size from baby to girls, sad day. Flagging the watercolor idea for future gifts for our Moms!

  7. I feel that having your own baby makes you just crave wanting to celebrate Mother's Day with your own mom...at least that is how I feel. I hope you can visit your parents soon. It looks like you had a great weekend though with your little family. MA is adorable!
