California Day Two - San Diego downtown

On Friday morning (February 11th), we got up and had a free breakfast thanks to the hotel that didn't go over so well.  Kevin "took care of it" and went to talk to the front desk.  He came back and said we could go have breakfast in their restaurant.  That was nice of them!

We headed out and drove around Little Italy and downtown San Diego.

I loved the palm trees with the purple bushes.  So pretty.  I think this was across the street from their Convention Center.

We checked into the hotel around noon and headed out to explore the Gaslamp District.

And by the way, I was obsessed with all the flowers at the hotels.  You'll see...

We came back and got ready to go out that night.  We started out at Toast for Happy Hour.  Had the foccacia stuffed with brie (I think) and Kevin had a good beer and I had wine.

They had wine by the ounce that you could get.

Then we went to the Solamar rooftop bar and had a drink.  It was a nice view up there and we met a few girls that told us about some more hot spots.  It is funny but we also ended up seeing the same three girls at Torrey Pines the next day - they were site-seeing too!

We ended the night with dinner at Freds.  A good mexican place on the main strip.

We were still sorta on East Coast time so we came in early most nights (around 10 or 11, which was like 1 or 2 to us)!  This is the rooftop bar at the Marriott.  Evidently they have a pretty hoppin' night life!
Soooo, Saturday was my favorite day of the trip and I'll be back tomorrow to tell you about that.  You'll love hearing about it, I hope!  :)  A clue - we headed up to LA.

PS - thank yall for your sweet comments about the trip.  We feel so lucky to have been able to go and simply had a wonderful time seeing new things!  I'm slowly but surely catching up on your blogs!  :)

  2. I've been to Fred's!! I adore San Diego :) Did you by chance stop in to Lather & Fizz Boutique in the GL District? It's one of my faves! I actually just got an order of their French Milled Clay Complexion Soap in the mail the other day!
