Kitchen Redo

This was our kitchen the day we bought it.  Terrible faucet, unevenly spaced black diamonds on the backsplash, black dishwasher that held nothing, white fridge on the right, black stove, black microwave and most importantly - a large fluorescent light above the island (not pictured).  HA!  We had some work to do with an otherwise great kitchen.  Gorgeous cherry cabinets, a lot of space, upgraded drawers in the cabinets etc.

This is a similar picture today.  We had the faucet, dishwasher and fridge changed the day we closed...literally.  You all remember how the lighting was changed in the Fall. Those were big things that were huge improvements.

But this week, we had the backsplash redone.  And it looks SO much better.

Look at this old picture of the right side of our kitchen.  This was taken the day we closed.  GROSS.

This is after we got our fridge.  You can still see a bunch of wiring behind that white platter that is displayed.  We had that moved.

And this is today (including my bouquet from our wedding)!  No wires and new backsplash!  We still will eventually do something with the intercom/radio system but it is a bigger deal than just swapping out this cover.

Old picture.

New picture with a new microwave!  Stove is still to come.  I think we've decided on the one we want (double oven - yes!) and we're going to get it when Lowes does their Memorial Day sale.

So that's how it stands today!  Any suggestions?  I would love to hear them!

  2. Gosh, those intercom systems were such a big deal back in the 70's and 80's. Who would have known that they would be obsolete. Looks GREAT!

  4. Looking SO good! The subway tile was a good choice. We have a double oven (original with our 1950's house haha) and LOVE it! Sometimes I forget I have two ovens haha. Second, I'm so jealous you still have your bouquet. I found out once I got back to work that one of my co-workers took mine home with her! She's also the same person that brought her roommate as a plus one, when I only invited her. Poor thing has no clue about etiquette.

  8. LOVE your lights. Where are they from? The back splash looks awesome. My parents have the same issue with their intercom system, although we think it's still fun to mess around with it (ie wake each other up) when we all spend the night there. We got a double oven and LOVE it. The only problem with ours is that it doesn't have any under oven storage for pans.
