What a week! The last two days have been pure chaos but good chaos. Got up at the crack of dawn Tuesday morning for an early flight. Once I got to Baltimore, I drove a couple hours in crazy DC Beltway traffic and construction (seriously how do yall do it up there every day?!) and had some important meetings.
Then I got back in the car for a four hour ride to my parents home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Mom had fixed a good ole MD meal including jumbo lump crab cakes (she makes the best ones in the world in case you didn't know!), corn on the cob, green beans and a salad. I was stuffed afterwards!
The real highlight of being home is Mama got her wedding dress and veil out of the attic. Yes, ladies, I tried it on. Hilarious....none of us could stop laughing!!! I believe we'll be shopping for my own dress! ;) I have pictures of this but I can't dispose any pictures of me in any wedding gown until after the big day.
The next morning Dad and I got up at 6 and went for a run/bike ride. I ran 5 miles and since Dad is on temporary leave of absence from running, he biked. He has a knee injury. Our neighbor Mr. Cooper came with us and biked too. We had a big time!
Mom and Dad made breakfast for us (scrapple and my Dad's famous cheesy eggs!) then we all showered and got ready for the day! Mom and I of course got into some shopping at a couple favorite spots in Salisbury....Vernon Powell (running clothes) and Pemberton Gifts. We didn't go too crazy but Mama and Daughter always enjoy a lil shopping! ;)
Got into the airport around 7:15 last night then zoooomed to the grocery store and home. Made a quick pot of chili and ran out the door to kickball at 8:15. I'm hosting a dinner tonight for our friend's that we get together with every few months. This happens to be my turn. Let's just say that as of 7:30 last night I had no ingredients for anything. But I think it's going to come together just fine and thankfully I have sweet friends that don't mind if it isn't perfect! ;)
Check out this beauty of a sunrise from my condo this morning.
Alrighty I have a million things to do today. I hope to catch up with you all when I have a couple free hours on Saturday. :)
Good luck with dinner tonight! I made a wonderful recipe from Gina's Skinny Taste last night that you'll have to try.
ReplyDeleteCoconut Chicken salad. YUM!
One of these days when you are in DC, we must get lunch or something!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I metro...I'm afraid of the beltway!
Wow sounds like a fast trip! I love the DC area...but definitely not the traffic. I honestly think that would be one thing from preventing me living there! The meal looks delicious...I love crab cakes! good luck with the dinner tonight xo
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived outside of DC and worked on the other side of the District, the traffic drove me crazy whenever I drove. Thank goodness I was able to take the metro most of the time! Hope you get a chance to rest after your fun last few days! ;)
ReplyDeleteI spy lump crab meat...yum! xx
