RSVP

I'm going to go ahead and be straight right now:

RSVP.

If you receive an invitation, RSVP by the date it says.

And when you RSVP that you're going to go to the party...GO TO THE PARTY!

If you say you're going to do something, DO IT.

I don't know how you all roll with calendars - whether you have it in a planner or in your Outlook or on your phone, but if something is on my calendar, I do it.

You all that have thrown parties get it.  It's so rude to not RSVP then show up when you haven't counted that person to your party total.  On the other hand, it's rude to RSVP that you're coming, the host pays for your meal then you don't show up.

I cannot believe that people were not taught common courtesy.  It's just unreal.  I understand that things happen and emergencies can occur...that's different and not what I'm talking about.

Anyone else hear me?!  Gah!

  1. Girl - I plan events at my company getting people to RSVP is the hardest thing. UGH so annoying!

  2. It really annoys me too. I just assume if people don't RSVP that means they aren't coming.
    It's annoying as hell.

  4. Amen!! Ugh. I still can't think about our wedding RSVPs and not be annoyed. We had I think, 9 people say they were coming and not show up. Two of them came to the wedding and not the reception (the same 2 that RSVPed for 2 additional people!) Thanks for making me waste $500 on you. Biggest pet peeve ever.

  5. Huge peeve of mine too! Have you noticed that on most e-invitation sites there's not an option to put the RSVP date in or option to close RSVPs? I feel like the evite culture has made not responding acceptable since it makes it so easy to respond up until the last minute.

  6. Uh oh did someone RSVP and not show up on Saturday?! I know so rude!! Wedding invitations are the worst. We had to hunt people down and see if they were coming or not!
    Life as I know it

  7. Thank you for saying that! I'm totally with you on this. I am planning a bridal shower for a friend at the end of the month and the RSVP date is in a few days. NO ONE has responded yet. It's sooo frustrating and disrespectful. I have no idea how many people are coming and how much food and drinks to buy!

  8. THIS!! SUCH a pet peeve! And just wait until you have kiddos, trying to plan headcounts for birthday parties! I have come to the conclusion that people just don't get what RSVP means, and have resorted to putting "Please call to let us know whether or not you will be able to make it!" on invites.

    Ignorance abounds.

  9. OMG, I am so with you!!! I hate having to track people down asking them if they are coming or not, because they did not RSVP!! One of my biggest pet peeves!!!! The worst was our wedding....I had to call/text/Facebook message at least 15 different couples...unreal!!! I even gave you a stamp!!!

  11. I am in the middle of planning a bridal shower and only 4 people have responded out of about 30! This happened with my wedding too...many people would not send back their response card...HELLO! There is a stamp on there for a reason people!
