Wedding Wednesday - Nails

I've been talking to my main squeeze over at Polished, Mr. Lee (thank you Tara for sending me to him!) and he says I must do a french manicure for our wedding.  Ladies, I'm not into it.  I just have never liked that look.

But it got me thinking that there are lots of options for nails on your wedding day.

You could go trendy.....but yall know I'm not very trendy.

Or you could do the french manicure look....

Or you could just simply get your nails painted a neutral color.  And this is what I'm leaning towards.

Those are not our hands, rings or nails.

And for my toenails, I will be wearing peep toe shoes but seriously who looks at someones shoes or toenails except for that one picture?!  I want something that'll match most everything I wear on our honeymoon so I'll probably go with a fun color on my toes.

How were your nails painted or how do you envision you'd want yours done?!

Thank you google for the above images.

OPI Bubble Bath. It's the best neutral. It's my favorite. Try it out and see if you like it. :)

I did a neutral, natural look. I think it was a very light pink.

I did OPI bubble bath too. And I did a fun coral on my toes... I think Cajun Shrimp on OPI On Collins Ave... I would say a no go on the french mani... feels very prom too me! No offense!

I agree with you - french mani is so outdated!! And when I see people in salons who get it on their toes....I want to cringe.

I went with a shellac manicure to make sure it still looked great during the honeymoon. In my opinion, the very best pale pink version of this is a combination of two colors. Both CND brand. Bottom coat of Romantique. Top coat of Negligee. It produces the PERFECT pale pink that stays shiny and will not chip in sand, sun, and salt. I went with a similar nail polish color on my toes because I didn't want bright pink or red toes peeking out from under my wedding dress. With a tan it looks great!

Getting close!!

I used Essie Ballet Slippers for my sisters wedding--it was such a perfect, soft neutral!

Ha! I *loathe* French manicures. Even worse? French pedicures! It looks slutty to me (SORRY Classic Annie readers!)

I'm going to wear essie Material Girl. It's super dark and it's my favorite nail polish. So what that it's not light and airy? I feel best and most polished and put-together when I wear it.

Do what you want, it's your wedding and they're your nails! xo

I am not a huge french manicure person at all. My go to is always Essie Ballet Slippers. It is such a pretty neutral color, and you cannot tell when it chips! I will probably do this for my wedding. I think neutral is classic and elegant.

I love the idea of a kind of neutral color. Whatever color you choose, I highly suggest a shellac mani. That's what I did for our wedding and it still looked good after we got back from our honeymoon, which was a full two weeks after the wedding. Not one chip!

my friend who got married this summer did a neutral/trendy combo. a pale, almost natural pink on all nails, and a silver sparkly accent nail on her 2 ring fingers. it looked great!

and agreed - no to the french. uck.

I did a neutral, however I do like a french when done right. French on the toes is a no-no!! Toe nails are not meant to be long!!!

I am so with you, not a fan of French manicures anymore. I will be going with a very very light pink or nude of somesort. And since I'll be wearing closed toes flats, who cares what will be on my toes! :)

I am currently debating between neutral and french! For neutral, I am loving the light pinks and tans and even Fiji by Essie (brighter, almost white but something a little more fun than a plain neutral). And toes, definitely something bright and fun for the honeymoon! Which Polished do you use? New one coming soon in Ballantyne!!

I also am not a fan of the French manicures...blahhh. I did a light pink... and then on my toes, I did a light blue and counted it as my something blue!

I did a neutral and then something bright on my toes. For people who like the french manicure-the american version is a little more subtle and looks a little less prom. I have had a good french manicure before, but my nails aren't very long, just past my fingers and I think it's more subtle when you don't have long tips. I agree with the previous posters-why would anyone do a french pedicure? Who wants long toenails? :)

I like a very soft pink or nude on brides! I'm not the biggest fan of french manicure either!

I did neutral on nails & Cajun shrimp opi on my toes. I do kinda wish I'd done French to be more 'bride'. But I also know the neutral nail is/was more me.
& PS, its probably what I'm going to have again for your big day!

I went with a light pink color on my nails I believe called bubble gum or ballet slipper (either OPI or Essie). On my toes I went with I'm not really a waitress by OPI to go with my red shoes! I don't like the French manicure look either and I think it's been done to death.
