What Kind of Blogger Are You?

These days, I feel like blogs (and social media in general) make us all feel not good enough.  And that bothers me.

I'll be up front -- this is the type of person/blogger I am, whether it looks like this on here every day or not:

 - I spend about 5 minutes on it daily, 5 days a week.  Most weeks I schedule my posts.
 - I do it to journal our daily life.
 - I am not some fancy cook that takes amazing pictures of the food as I make it.
 - I do not run 80 miles a week.
 - I do not know about any fancy makeup.
 - I do not put together amazing outfits daily.
 - Our house is not out of a magazine or Pinterest and never will be.
 - My camera is an older Canon that has a cracked screen from being dropped on many bar floors.
 - Kevin and I are not perfect people with the perfect life and perfect relationship.  We have the same troubles other couples have.
 - Our wedding will be about us and what we like.  It won't look like a Pinterest show.

No offense to anyone who has any of these talents - bless you all!  I just don't.  And I'm okay with that.

At the end of the day.  I am who I am and I won't pretend to be this perfect lil blogger, friend, fiance, daughter, Aunt, cousin or sister.

  1. I LOVE this!!! In the end, we are all real people with real flaws. Blogging can definitely give the impression that people have perfect lives, but in real life it just can't be true. You are such a "real" blogger because you don't just blog about the good things in your life. Thank you!

  2. This is great! I was starting to feel the same way...insecure about what I was posting because I was afraid it wasn't good enough! Thank you!

  4. And if you were all of those things I wouldn't follow you ;) perfection is boring. Real life isn't.

  5. I try and keep that same level of "realness" in my blog, too - I don't have ads, I don't have "sponsors", and if that means my follower count is hundreds lower than other (more boring/manufactured blogs, IMO), then so be it. I'm not writing a blog to please anyone or to prove anything to anyone.

Keep doing what you're doing -- you were one of the first blogs I started following YEARS ago and I'm still sticking with ya!!

Also I quit Pinterest (awhile ago). Best decision. I'm just not That Girl.

  6. great post girl! I mainly keep my blog to express my interests and keep track of my life. I've always enjoyed reading your blog because it's so real. I read a variety of blogs to see the different reasons why people blog and the content they create. At the end of the day, I think it's everyone's way of expressing themselves and not a competition! Or at least I do not have time to compete with some of the blogs out there!

  7. I love this! Props for the honesty. I got slack on my blogging after my laptop died in 2010 and then I didn't upgrade my phone until about six months ago. Even though I follow all types of blogs daily, I think I just feel under the pressure to make it look "perfect" -- not sure that I will get back to it until we have kids. And then, I doubt I'll have time!

  8. I am the same way. I wish I had some kind of talent that I could share but I don't. I started the blog to take more pictures and document our life. But I sometimes think just real life blogs are the most interesting. You aren't trying to be anything you are not.

  12. I agree with you and thats why I haven't blogged a lot recently. I just needed a break because I felt like I had to make every post great and pinterest-worthy. At the end of the day, that isn't why I started my blog and wanted to get back to that place.

I'm so glad that you posted this and are "real" about who are you. I think thats why a lot of people keep coming back to your blog--I know thats why I do. :)

  14. Very true! I think most of us, post about the best, most fun things in our life--which can give the illusion of things being "perfect!" I think one of the reasons I keep coming back to my blog, is because you do post about the real, everyday "stuff"! I can tell you're the type of person I would be friends with in real life! Way to be honest in this post!
