Spring Break Week in OIB

We stayed the whole past week, well really 10 days in Ocean Isle and enjoyed every moment. We rode a lot of miles on our bikes, had fun on the beach, enjoyed the best dinner at Oyster Rock, fixed stuff around the house, made good meals at home, celebrated Dad's birthday, our 11th anniversary and even fit in some work. Here are some pictures...

Grouper with salt, pepper, cayenne and garlic powder. Grill on a sheet pan for 8 minutes a side of the grouper. So good. Lima beans boiled for about 30 minutes with bacon, salt and pepper. Shrimp just steamed on the stove top with water, apple cider vinegar, and old bay for a few minutes.

Biked over to sunset slush.

Got the motor on one side of boat lift changed out. One side was going down faster than the other. Now both are "fast" except it's not fast at all!

Two nights of go karting of course.

Mahi tacos for lunch. This was mahi that Kevin caught off shore last fall.

Strawberry daiquiris at oyster rock while we waited for a table!

A perfect vibe for apps and beverages!

I look like a wide human being but here I am with my parents in a flowy dress that I was thankful for after dinner!!

His first dirty gin martini! He liked it!

Grady and I grabbed Poppa's cake, balloons and beer for Kevin. It was a hoot!

Took the puppy to the east end to play on the beach. It's so pretty down there.

Watched NC State in the final four. They had a great run! Proud to be alumni. Hilary and Drew and crew came over and we had crab dip and pizza. It was a great last night being together. Celebrated Dad, watched State and hung!

Amazing memories and will treasure each moment! Now back to it!

Five Finds and a Sale

1. Obsessed with this dress. The pattern and colors are stunning.

2. This "muscle" tee is great to put on with work dress pants or jeans.

3. Love this new raffia tote. Has a pouch inside that zips as well.

4. A versatile linen tee with some ruffles for the summer. Lots of colors.

5. This is one of those wow dresses! Would love to have a fun event coming up to wear this.

And, did you all see that Lilly is having a surprise sale starting tomorrow and going through Sunday?! I'll definitely be checking that out! You?!

Broccoli Salad

My Mom's broccoli was a staple when we were growing up. I hadn't made it in so long but it sounded good for Easter brunch.

Ingredients:
1. 4 heads of broccoli cut into bite size pieces
2. 1/2 cup of raisins
3. 10 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
4. 5 green onions, chopped
5. 1 cup mayonnaise
6. 2 tablespoons white vinegar
7. 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:
1. Place broccoli in large bowl. Add raisins, bacon and onions.
2. In a separate bowl, mix together the mayo, vinegar and sugar.
3. Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture.
4. Toss gently.
5. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

This is good the next day and two days later as well!

Easter Weekend

Friday afternoon we went to the beach to fly kites that Ms. Julie had given them! I took my mom with us while my dad went to Pawleys to see my brother and his fam. Mom loves the beach and I'm glad we went out there. We hung with friends and chilled. It was beautiful outside.

Friday night we went to our friends house for a taco bar and to watch the NC State game!

I was in charge of margaritas! Lunazul, like bubbly and a sliced jalapeƱo or two, with a lime!

They won and on to the elite 8!

Saturday we put the boat in the water then had an early dinner at Sharky's. Tuna poke bowl is so good.

Dad and Kevin drove the boat over to Sharky's while I took the car and trailer back home. Then I put the kids and mom on the golf cart to meet at Sharky's. It was fun.

Oh I also walked/ran early Saturday morning. Met my friend Carlee from work out there and we watched the sun rise and walked and talked!

And we went to the event at the park that the Town of Ocean Isle put on. Always cute. We walked around the market too.

The Easter Bunny came!

The golden retriever puppy with an NC State coller and the Stanley cup were their highlights!

The Presbyterian service on the beach at Driftwood was wonderful.

Saw my friend Suz there too!

Back home to get ready for brunch at our house with the whole crew. All three families and two of us had our parents with us too!

We had quite the spread and Hilary, Ariel and I divided and conquered to make it happen!

Oyster crackers and nuts to snack on
Mac N Cheese
Ham Sliders
Deviled eggs
Fruit salad
Croissants
Shrimp salad to put on croissants
Broccoli salad
Sausage Egg Cheese Casserole
Asparagus wrapped in prosciutto
Peep Cake
Lemon Bars

I should share my broccoli salad and shrimp salad recipes soon. They're actually my mom's recipes!

It was a gorgeous day!

Silly gooses

We headed back over to Steve and Ariel's to watch NC State beat Duke. Had to go to the same place as we had luck on Friday night!

We also got to go see our neighbors beach house that live near us at home. They have an awesome tiki bar and view on the marsh.

NC State pulled through with the win. Final four!!!

Monday - we played at the local park. They have an amazing facility out there. Soccer fields, tennis courts, pickleball, dog park, track, baseball fields, and more. It's so nice. Steve got Grady trained up on the soccer field!

Molly Anne dyed Easter eggs of course!

Hilary and I took the kids on a 5 mile bike ride to the far east end of the island! They loved it but I may have loved it more!

Got the boat on our new lift on Monday too!

We made the best summer meal (on April 1st). Mills even liked the corn!

Will share these recipes soon too!

Grady loves his puppy!

Back to the grind today!
