Five on Friday - Spring, Shorts, Mills

ONE - the weather in Charlotte has been so nice lately.  The tulips in our yard are blooming and that makes me so happy. These are some pretty ones in Southpark that I snapped a picture of and sent to my mom.  I always feel like March and October are the months that you can really tell Charlotte is more south and the northern states are still cold.

TWO - one of Kevin's and my favorite evening activities in the summer is taking Mills to TCBY for yogurt.  He loves it.  We took him this week for his first 2015 trip and he was thrilled beyond belief!  Kevin keeps talking about taking the doors and maybe top off the jeep soon.  Mills will really be in heaven then!

THREE - I did a random search for 4" maternity shorts the other day and Loft had some for $5.93 each.  I got white, khaki and teal.  I'm so excited to have these for the summer and I couldn't pass up $18 for three pair.

FOUR - has anyone read reality steve to find out who the next bachelorette ended up being out of Britt and Kaitlyn?  She has been named and the dates have started filming.  Exciting!

FIVE - we got rooms painted yesterday and today - this is the upstairs - still old lady pink walls AND ceiling.  And that stark white trim.  I will do some before and after photos next week!  I love how paint instantly changes things!

Cheers, it's Friday!

Week 25 Pregnancy Journal

How far along? 25 weeks

Size of Baby: Cauliflower head ha!  13.5" and 1.5 pounds

Gender: Not finding out!  Kevin really likes this new middle name for the boy but I'm iffy.

Weight Gain:  I was so excited about that 2 pound gain last week but I'm back down to what I was pre-pregnancy.  AKA I haven't gained any weight.  WEIRD because I definitely look bigger.

Maternity Clothes: Regular clothes though I don't think some of them look great any more.  Definitely need the baggy shirts.  Things have redistributed!

Nursery:  It's getting painted tomorrow and if they finish we'll hopefully set up the crib this weekend!

Movement: Yes and he/she is very active in the morning!

Symptoms:  Ribs and I had to take my headache medicine yesterday for the first time in awhile.  I think that was stress.

Sleep: I cannot wake up in the mornings.  I am TOAST by the end of the day...evidently.  But I'm still trying to ignore my tiredness and continue on.

Cravings:  I went to Trader Joe's on purpose last weekend for groceries instead of Harris Teeter solely so I wouldn't buy Salt and Vinegar chips.  I have always liked them but eating an entire bag between two weekends should be illegal...but it was done.  And I still didn't gain weight...evidently the baby likes them too and is absorbing them from me?!  Ha!

What I Miss:  Being able to sit for more than 10 minutes without my side killing me...but I will try not to complain because I'm thankful for the feeling at the same time.

Best Moment This Week:  Kevin felt the baby move which was very cool!  The stroller is all set up including the gadgets that go on it.

Looking Forward To:  The nursery being painted will be a huge step in the right direction and it would be great to get the crib set up too.  Basically I want everything done yesterday and that's not reality.

Veterans Dinner

Basically my friend Sarah is a rockstar.  She is a HUGE advocate of taking care of veterans when they return home and also their caregivers.  Sarah knows first hand what it's like as she's seen her husband through over 100 surgeries and is a caregiver every day.  Last night she invited a few of us to an event her company hosted to honor veterans.  She included my father in law who is a Vietnam Veteran.  What a honor and privilege it was to be in a room with so many people who have fought and continue to fight for our country.

L to R - Me, Sarah, Lauren and April

Kevin and I with Gigi!

Thank you Sarah for including us in this very special event.  My FIL won't stop talking about how great of a time he had and how wonderful you and your hubby are.  We agree!

St. Patrick's Day

Good morning!  A tradition that mom
always did for us growing up on St. Pattys Day was green cereal.  I did the same this morning and not to name any names but someoneeee wouldn't eat it.  Bah humbug! ;)

Last night I got to watch Gigi. Well she was a bit tired when Wendy handed her to me for a requested pic from her mama. Poor lil girl. She calmed right down and was asleep in no time!

Molly and I hung out after Gigi went down. I don't think I stopped petting her!

One is out like trout.

Two is out like trout!

St. Patrick's Day Weekend

We had a nice little weekend, hope you did too!

Friday night we had a quick dinner out and got home early to get to bed.  Fridays are a wash most times, I just want to be HOME and doing nothing.

Saturday I went to Flywheel then we continued our SouthEnd Craft Brewery Tour tradition for St. Patty's Day.  We started at Sycamore Brewing as seen above.  Then went to Good Bottle Company.

Last stop was Triple C where the OooWee BBQ was and we had the best BBQ Sundae.  Ever heard of one?  The bottom layer was baked beans, next one up was mac n cheese, then bbq then slaw.  SOOOO good and was the best dinner.

And mac n cheese eggroll plus a bbq eggroll.  Very healthy! ;)

Jenn and David!

David, Emily, Koren and Jenn

Double trouble.

My water was fantastic to drink all day, let me tell ya!

Lauren and Andrew!

Justin came out but Kathryn wasn't feeling good so she stayed in.  Kevin really isn't this short but they were goofing around.

Sunday was a nice little day...I got up and went to Trader Joes.  I really can't stand any grocery store after 10am on Saturday or Sunday (tooooo busy!) so I usually get up and go early.  Anyone with me on this?

Kevin wanted to go out to lunch and I did too so we wound up on Dean and Deluca's patio and took our best buddy with us.  He LOVED it.  There will be lots of patios in his future because he was really good.  Kevin even got him his own water...spoiled!

No make up, hey!

The three of us played all day in the backyard.  I did round-up on the weeds, Kevin cut the grass and did some other yardwork.  Then we chilled.  A lot.  And then our neighbors were out so some of those kids came to play with Mills and we talked to their parents.  Just a fun, chill day which was much needed.  Mills was zonked out last night!

We did muster up enough energy to throw some burgers on the grill and have Natalie's Brussels Sprouts Salad.  Eating outside was fun and hardly any clean up.  Those are the best meals right?  Also wearing shorts and a tank top all afternoon was pretty outstanding.  Loved the 80 degree day in March.  Today is a repeat on the weather.

Hope you all have a great week!

Five on Friday - SLC, Kicks and Mills

Not sure what happened to my Week 24 pregnancy journal but I changed it this morning so it was posted yesterday and not this past Monday.  I have no clue how that happened but probably something to do with posting from my iPad.  Anyway, you can keep scrolling after this post and see it if you really care.  Ha!

Happy Friday!

One - this week I was out in Salt Lake for a couple of days.  We took the red eye back on Wednesday night so I landed Thursday morning around 6am.  It was a fun trip!

The snow capped mountains...yes!

Two - when I landed I came right home and hung with my buddy.  Nap time was in order for sure.  I got maybe an hour and a half in before my phone started ringing!

Three - we took a long walk Thursday late afternoon which was much needed.

Four - when we got home, UPS was at our house delivering our crib!!!

Five - early this morning, Kevin felt the baby.  I was so excited he finally felt he/she!

Then there's this muddy, brown nose lil bubba who stops by the nursery every time he passes it now! Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Week 24 Pregnancy Journal

How far along? 24 weeks

Size of Baby: An ear of corn!

Gender: Not finding out!  We came up with another boy name we liked.  Well keeping the same first but we cannot decided on a middle.

Weight Gain:  I finally gained a couple pounds this week and I'm so excited about it.  I am starting to look pregnant versus fat haha!

Maternity Clothes: Still my regular clothes but I did get the cutest pair of maternity shorts from Loft that my friend Fran told me about. I tried them on once they came in the mail and they're so comfortable.  It'll be a few more weeks before I need them.

Nursery:  Well our bath renovation has been pushed until late April by the contractor so I may have the painter come over and do the nursery and upstairs next week.  We'll see if I can get my act together to do that.  We were trying to wait so the painter could do it all at once but I'm getting antsy.

Movement: Yes and it's super cool!

Symptoms: Would anyone like to remove my ribs?  Please and thank you. The massage did nothing.  I'm going to stand or lay down the rest of my life. No sitting.  It baffles me there is nothing any doctor can do.

Sleep: Still good which I'm thankful for. Basically I run myself ragged so I sleep. Been that way my entire life.  I do not stop moving during the day.

Cravings:  I'm ready for the farmers marker to open. I'm excited for fresh fruit. But I always like that so nothing crazy.  I had a malted milkshake the other night which was AMAZING but that was a really special treat.

What I Miss:  Shockingly I really haven't been nuts about missing a gin and tonic or corona as it gets warmer.  Talk to me in a few weeks when we hang on a patio.  Club soda with a lime will have to do.  It really hasn't been as bad as I thought without alcohol in general though.  I evidently get rid of stress by exercising more than a cold beverage on a Friday.

Best Moment This Week:  Kevin's parents gave us his silver-silverware that he used as a baby.  That was really sweet and something we will always treasure.  I love the family history behind it and will be sure to pass it along to our kid's kids.

Looking Forward To:  Kevin to feel this baby move and hanging with friends on Saturday!
