Week 28 Pregnancy Journal

How far along? 28 weeks

Size of Baby: Large Eggplant - 14.8" long and 2.25 pounds

Gender: Not finding out!  Names!  Ahh, need to decide.

Weight Gain:  I had gained but then I went to my internist on Monday because I have major crud and I had lost 5 pounds from being at the GYN last Wednesday.  So I don't know.  Whatever.  I should just stop counting because who cares if all is well with he/she!  Plus, I think I look bigger in person than I do in this picture.  If you know me, you can definitely tell I'm pregnant.  If you don't know me, you probably can't tell.  I'm okay with that.

Maternity Clothes: Regular clothes.  I need to figure out something to wear for my baby shower in a couple of weeks.  I'm thinking a Lilly dress that is "forgiving" if you will!  I refuse to wear those printed tops that cinch above the belly and are low on the chest...I know, I know, I'm nuts.  They're just not my cup of tea.

Nursery:  We have lots of things in there but need to organize and get the drapes up.  Did I tell you all we got the recovered chair back?  It's gorgeous.  Honestly decorating hasn't been a priority this week, both Kevin and I have been so sick.  Soon...as in this weekend we hope to get things done!

Movement: All the time!  The gyn office told me on Easter when I was calling them about my crud to drink lemonade and eat peanut butter to get the baby moving then lay on my side and make sure I felt it move 10 times in 2 hours.  I didn't even drink lemonade or eat PB and it took only 10 minutes for he/she to move 10 times.  I had no clue it moved that much!  They said the baby can sleep up to 120 minutes at a time.

Symptoms:  I won't go there this week.  I have coughed so much and so deeply that my body ACHES.  Mainly...you guessed it...my ribs! ;)

Sleep: Good when I'm not coughing, haha.

Cravings:  None really.  I've been into cold stuff this week - mainly smoothies but that's because of my crud.  Can I tell yall that Kevin can make a mean smoothie!  He makes really good grilled cheeses too, random but true!  Basically he's waited on me hand and foot this week.  I'm thankful for him!

What I Miss:  Nothing.  My internist told me to have wine with my codeine to suppress my cough this week and can yall believe that I had no interest in even trying wine?!  So I didn't.  I just had the codeine.  And he said if anyone tells me I can't have codeine while pregnant to not listen to them...he said codeine has been around for 50 years and it's fine!!  I told him the gyn office couldn't tell me if I could have a cough drop and he said HAVE COUGH DROPS ALL YOU WANT.  I love that man!  I do believe in being a rule follower but to some extent, it's crazy.  I liked how practical he was because he knew I really needed help (and to not get pneumonia!).

Best Moment This Week:  Easter morning with our family was really nice.  Of course I miss my parents/bro/SIL/nieces but Kevin's fam treats me as one of their own and always have.  I'm thankful for that because Easter really seems family oriented even though I wasn't in Maryland or Pawleys Island.

Looking Forward To:  Good times this weekend and week ahead!  To be continued!

  1. Gosh you poor thing, I hope you feel better soon. Let us know if we can do anything for you. You can always find judgy people or fifty who think one way and another fifty who think the other. At the end of the day if you and your doctor feel good about it then that's all that matters!

  3. Yuck the crud sucks!! I can't believe your dr told you to drink wine and take codeine. I have no clue if codeine is ok but I would be a little apprehensive about drinking wine pregnant! Then again back in the day mamas drank and smoked and their kids came out ok!
