Brain Dump

Just a random Thursday brain dump:

1.  The 70 degree weather in Charlotte was nice yesterday.  It's going to be a beautiful weekend in the 60's too.  I can get used to flip flops in February.

2.  Having our house in disarray this week and next is definitely interesting.  I'll be filling you all in on our projects tomorrow!  Poor Mills' condo had to be moved to our room so he didn't have to smell the paint fumes...yes this was a Kevin requirement.  It wasn't THAT bad.

3.  Mariel is who to ask if you ever need a restaurant recommendation.  Thankfully I got to try Orzo Kitchen this week in Charlottesville.  This Italian Mac & Cheese did not have any cream, cheese or calories in it.  SO good.

4.  I've been having terrible headaches lately (literally every weekday afternoon) and I'll spare you other details of my health but it hasn't been a fun couple of weeks.  Any solutions to terrible headaches other than drinking water and taking Advil?

5.  I need to find some clothes to go to China and Japan in!  You know how they do an event for us every night for 10 days.  And also most of the same people went to Paris and Monte Carlo last year.  So I need a few new dresses for the evening events.  I'm sure Kevin will be thrilled to hear this.

6.  The difference in NARS blush and Clinique blush is unbelievable.  I never knew that blush should actually still be on at the end of the day.  Try NARS!

7.  Mills has been staying in our room and on our bed with us most nights.  He has started going in there and getting on our bed at 8pm to claim his area.  SRGR...spoiled rotten golden retriever!

8.  We are all wishing away winter but then we'll be wishing it was cooler when it's 90 degrees outside.  Don't we always want what we can't have?

9.  FaceTime - I love this invention.  Mills gets to see his grandparents almost every day or at least a few times a week.  Or maybe it's Mills' Mama that uses Mills as an excuse to see them.  Either way, it's wonderful.

10.  This time last year we were crazy doing lots of wedding activities.  That was such a favorite time of life and I cannot believe it's almost been a year.

  3. You were in my neck of the woods...Charlottesville! Hope you had a nice trip and glad you liked Orzo...it's pretty delish:) And about the headaches...have you tried a little caffeine? Even just a few sips of a late-day coffee or coke my help. I'd stay away from anything with artificial sweeteners though bc that could possibly make a headache worse.

  5. I go through phases where I have a tension headache every day for a week or more. It is usually tied to stress. I can tell when its really tight in my upper neck and pain killers don't relieve the pain. I usually try to do neck massaging exercises and activities that help me relieve the stress. I also found that there is a pressure point between my thumb and pointer finger that works well. It never hurts to put a hot/cold pad on your head or neck to take the edge off. I hope you find relief soon! Headaches can be so paralyzing.

  6. I've been having awful headaches since past fall. If you don't use them ALLL the time, BC powders are amazing. Basically aspirin and caffeine in powder form. But if used a lot, they cause rebound headaches. STINKS!

  8. My company's HQs are in C'ville. We had our National Sales Mtg in January and one of the dinners at Orzo. It was so good!! There are so many good restaurants there.
I have migraines and swear by a chiropractor. I was on all kinds of prescriptions a few years ago and weened myself off with the help of a chiro. Good luck, I know difficult it can be to function with a headache.

  9. I use Clinque blush...guess I will have to try NARS!

When I read that your pasta had no cream or calories I thought "How is that possible?!?" Then I realized you were joking. In a perfect world pasta would be good for us!

  10. Wow, so hard to believe y'all are almost to your one year anniversary!! So the headaches come only during the week? Is there anything you eat or drink everyday that you don't on the weekends? Maybe it is stress? Hope you find an answer soon!!

  13. My first time commenting-I love your blog! I am a frequent migraine sufferer, and can tell you caffeine is usually helpful. Not a ton-like 1 Diet Coke or small cup of coffee's worth. Cold compresses also help. Be careful of tension you're holding in your body as this may be why. For non-prescription meds, always use an anti-inflammatory. I like Aleve or Excedrine Migraine, which does contain caffeine. Good luck!!

  14. The Italian mac & cheese looks amazing! I'm going to put Orzo on my list for my next C-ville work trip :) Also, I totally agree with the recommendation of Rent the Runway for your trip!

  16. So I completely agree that Clinique blush sucks - not enough pigment, and it NEVER lasts. However, NARS raised their prices one too many times and I switched to Lorac Baked Matte Satin blush - and it's pretty damn amazing. So there's an alternative if you get sick of forking out $30 for blush.
