Mills meets Wylie

Let's talk about Mills meeting Wylie.  This story is unreal.

I really didn't feel like stopping in Mebane, NC on our way back from Maryland.  But Kevin HAD to go to the Vineyard Vines outlet and it worked out timing-wise for Mills to stop.  So we did.  The parking lot was chaos being the day after Christmas.

I was in a landscape island trying to get Mills to use the facility while Kevin went to VV.  This black 4runner rolls by slowly but everyone was doing that looking for a parking spot.  Then he stops and puts down the back window a little bit and I see a golden in the back.  I showed Mills and said, "look Mills, it's your brother!"  Now, I always say this when we see another golden and I show him.  But this time....it was true.

We get to talking and they are from Greensboro and I tell him that Mills is from West Ben.  I could tell that their dog was super cute too (I'm not biased or anything!) and do you know that their dog was from West Ben too?  We talked about their parents and they had the same Dad.  At this point, he gets their dog out of the car and Mills just went nuts.  They played and played.

They asked how old Mills was and I told him and they said theirs was 16 months too.  Y'ALL!  They were both born on August 22nd.  Same Dad.  Same litter.  They were two of the three boys in the litter.   Kevin remembers their dog and they remembered looking at Mills.

Mills met his brother Wylie!  We think they knew they were real brothers.  They smelled it.  Mills acted differently than he normally does with other dogs.  Maybe it's in my head but the other couple thought the same.

Eventually his wife and Kevin came back from their shopping and got to see the pups together.  Get this - they live in Charlotte about 15 minutes from us!  They were on their way to the beach and we were on our way home from Maryland.  WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!!!  We just happened to stop, I just happened to get that parking spot right by the entrance to the shops, happened to be in that landscape island, his wife called and told him to come pick her up right then.  It's just odd but so cool!

Anyway, we exchanged numbers and we're going to get the brothers together soon.  They don't have children either so needless to say, they are equally as obsessed with their dog as us.  Ha!  It was nice to bond over ridiculous medical bills (constantly!) and diet choices.

So fun!

  6. What a sweet story! Our dog is from the same litter as my sister-in-laws dog and the boys act differently together than they do with with other dogs. They totally know they are brothers!
