Wedding Wednesday - Honeymoon

We are going to Hawaii! Tell me your favorite island and why! Any excursions or things that we must do and see?! Feel free to post links to any blog recaps.

Advice on stopping on our way out or back in San Fran? Should we do that or take the hike and go straight there?

Thank you all!

  1. How exciting! Sounds like a perfect Honeymoon locale! I have never been to Hawaii, and I can't wait to hear about all the tips from others and more of your planning. ;)

  2. Kauai is my favorite island because it feels the least developed and most relaxing. But I haven't been to the Big Island or Oahu since I was a little girl. I would love to go back to Volcanoes National Park and see a lava flow though. Could you split your time between two islands? I don't think it's necessary to plan a stop over in California before heading over but it might be good to stop on the way back to adjust--coming back to the east coast is so much worse than going to the west coast, jet lag wise.

  4. I was in Hawaii last week. First, what island are you going to? If Oahu, I am obsessed with Cholos on the North Store. It is a must have lunch. The flights are long, from DC you have to stop so it was like 12 hours each way. My brother did his honeymoon there and stopped in Vegas. I think San Fran is perfect though. It is so different from Hawaii and yet very romantic and scenic.

  6. Girl, I think my whole blog is about things you should do in San Fran! I think for you guys, since you are so active, riding bikes across the Golden Gate was a highlight as well as Alcatraz.

For Hawaii, we go there once every 2 years. I LOVE going to the island of Kaui. Not a lot of tourism, very natural and the beaches are beautiful. There are cute B&Bs there if resorts are expensive. Also, my favorite thing to do in Kaui is get a helicopter ride. A little pricey, but so worth it.

  7. So fun! If you are headed to the big island, go up to the observatories. You go with a group by bus up the volcano where it will be SNOWY! They give you big parkas to wear and have dinner for you. Then you see the world famous observatories and get to look at stars and the moon. It's one of the coolest things I've done ever!
