Hair Routine

Yall please don't make fun of me!  I have always been teased that I'm a slave to my hair and I'm okay with that!  It's seriously like horse hair and is super thick.  I like to tame it down and let me tell yall, the Chi saved my life!  I know we all have our usual hair products and this post is not meant to sway you to try any of it, this is just what works for me.  As always email me if you have any questions!

Oh and there is a link below each picture to take you to the website if you'd like to look more at each thing.

First up is my shampoo - Aveda Smooth Infusion.  I buy this in the big daddy containers and always when it's 20% at Modern Salon here in Charlotte.  Yes, it's pricey, but SO worth it.  The tub lasts me an entire year.  Keep in mind I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week!  It'd be a fro otherwise and my hair is curly so I straighten!

And the conditioner that goes with it.  I don't use much of this and I try to only use it on the ends so my hair lasts longer (aka I don't have to wash it as often).  Yes it's kinda a production to straighten your hair...yall know how it is.

This is my most recent addition and it does make a difference and keep my ends looking better and not get split as easily.  Aveda Damange Daily Hair Repair.  I put this on after I get out of the shower and towel dry my hair, before I pull out the dryer.

You can never go wrong with the Aveda Paddle Brush.  This thing has withstood the test of time!

And my hair dryer that gave me back 20 minutes of my life every week.  T3 Original Hair Dryer.  Yes, it's outrageously expensive but I've had this baby for about 5 years, it's still cooking right along and it saves me SO much time so it's easily justifiable.  So when I dry, I get all the wetness out first.  Then when it is about 75% dry, I separate it into sections and......

break out my big ole round ionic brush.  I do the bottom section first then work my way up to the top of my head.  I never thought I could do it like they do it at the salon but my sweet gal totally showed me how and it made a big difference for me.  See I told yall I was a slave to my hair.

And I use the Chi to straighten those lil pieces in the front of my hair that I've never cut but still annoy me and to attempt to perfect the rest.

And the final solution is a lil tiny bit of this Aveda smoothing serum that smooths your hair out, adds a lil shine and finishes it.

Sometimes, just sometimes, before I put the last stuff in it, I'll curl it with my new (key word NEW - do not use a 10 year old curling iron).  Always curl the first few sections on each side away from your face.  I also don't really curl the ends but that's just my preference and how I learned it from Michelle Money in this video.  This is just a lil something different you can do!

Hope you're having a good hair day today! :)

  1. I LOVE Aveda products!! What sort of curling iron do you use? Mine really is 10 years old, and so is my Chi. ha

  2. I'm going to have to try Aveda...I hear such good things, but have never bought them! My hair is curly too, and I go back and forth with it. Sometimes I let is curl, sometimes I straighten it. Currently, it's curly, but it was straight for three days last week!

  4. I've never tried Aveda products. I use a lot of Paul Mitchell products and that can get rather expensive as well!

  5. I've never tried the Aveda products but I might need to look into the damage therapy. I always try to protect my hair since I blow dry it almost every day!

  6. Great post! I'm also a slave to the hair straightening regime. With thick, naturally wavy hair - it's a huge process. I am going to blog my "splurge vs. steal" hair straightening recommendations next week! :-) XOXO

p.s. If you want to further minimize your flat iron time, add the Kiehls' Heat Protective Silk Straightening Cream to your regime. I couldn't live without it...XO

  7. Wow girl, you are committed! I guess I have relatively low maintenance hair, but I am a slave to color. That's my big splurge! Gotta have good highlights :)
