Questions Answered

First, thank you all SO much for all of your congratulations, encouragement and excitement from my post yesterday!  It means more to me than you know!  I thought it would be good to answer some questions that I've been asked!

1.  No, we aren't finding out the gender.  Everyone finds out and we want to be different.  Plus, I've waited 32 years, I can wait 25 more weeks!  The planner in me is going nuts but I'll survive!

2.  Since we aren't finding out gender, I'm going with navy in the nursery.  And I don't want it to be a theme, I just want it to be a nice room!

3.  We found out November 5th!  We told my parents on the 7th and Kevin's parents on the 8th.

4.  Yes, I've been doing weekly pregnancy journals and been saving them as drafts.  I'll be publishing these soon because I've loved reading others updates especially when I first got pregnant and couldn't talk to anyone about it!  These updates have all the ways we told our closest family etc.

5.  I still don't believe it's real, despite 8 weeks of nausea and now daily headaches.

6.  Traveling has still happened.  And I just pushed through.  I had to work!  It really wasn't that terrible except this one flight back from salt lake in December.  That was misery.

7.  Still been doing flywheel and exercising. Essential.

8.  I told work on the Monday after Christmas (29th).  That was fun!  Now they understood why I was panting as I ran through airports all Fall rolling 80 lbs of suitcase and bag behind me.

9.  I'll be 16 weeks on Friday.

10. Kevin is very excited.  I think he wanted to be a dad the day after we got married. He's so good with our nieces. ;)

Any other questions - put them in the comments and I'll answer them soon!

We Like Odd Years

Kevin and I like odd years.

2005 - We both put deposits down on condos at the Avenue that were starting to be built but we didn't know each other existed.

2007 - Avenue was completed and we moved into our condos.  Three weeks later, we met.

2009 - We started dating.

2011 - We got engaged.

2013 - We got married.

2015 - We expect to be watching Charlotte's fireworks from CMC Main's Baby Unit! (Technically 7/3 which happens to be the same day we got engaged in 2011).  Crazy!

We're very excited!

Nice Lil Weekend

We had a nice weekend and hope you did too!

Friday night we hung in the backyard until we headed uptown to meet up with our Avenue friends.

We met them at Mellow Mushroom for some apps and pizza!  Of course I forgot to take a picture of our whole group but we always have the best time.  We can go weeks and months without talking or seeing each other and we pick up right where we left off....those are the best of friends right?

Saturday Kevin and I went to his office for a little while then we went to look at marble, granite and quartz for our bathroom counters.  We are doing a complete renovation of our master bathroom in March.  I can't wait!  Maybe I'll do a post soon with our inspiration pictures?!

Mills clearly had a rough life on Saturday afternoon after we let him run like a crazy man out back for awhile.

Saturday night we had plans with Kevin's parents then watched the Panthers game.  Sad they lost but it was still a good season for them.

Sunday Mills played and Kevin and I played catch up on life.  I met up with my friend Kimmy who was extra kind to take time out of her day to help me with something and then I went to Teeter for groceries.  I'm finding it's easiest to make two meals for the week on Sunday afternoon instead of having to do it after a full day at my office.  Well, I guess I've always known to do this, but I just haven't done it.

But I'm glad when I get home late on Mondays that dinner is basically done and just needs to be heated.

Here's to a new week and I'm going honky tonking for work this week.  Stay tuned to Instagram.  If we aren't friends, leave a comment on this post and I'll email you back with my Instagram name (assuming you have your comments enabled that I can reply via email).  See this post on what I'm talking about.

Happy Monday!

Lilly After Sale

How did the sale go for you guys?  I got some things but I didn't go crazy like most years.

I got this Joanna dress and it came in the mail yesterday and I tried it on last night and love it.  The straps are adjustable. It is very long so I'll have to get it hemmed.

You all know I got more travel pants. I've been living in these.  I call them my sweatpants ha.  I got black and brown in this sale each for $39.  Belk actually had them for $34 but not in my size.  Now I have four pairs of black and one each of navy, gray and brown.

And I got the Lilly Loves Hope murfee.  I like the murfees that are dressy and don't go with only black or only navy.  I like this one for these reasons.

I got an Elsa and another top too.  What did you guys end up with?

Our Weekend

Friday night - I got back into town from Pawleys Island and we went to dinner with Kevin's parents at Cantina.  Afterwards they came back to our house and we showed them some plans we have for remodeling our bathroom (!!!) and some other things.  It was fun to catch up with them!

Saturday morning I usually go to Flywheel but I decided against going and instead worked on our wedding album...FINALLY.  It's finished now.  And the scrapbook I put together with items from that weekend and our engagement is also finished.  Thank goodness!!!  That was a huge relief!  It was about time.

Saturday afternoon we went to pick Shauna and Brad up and we went to Peculiar Rabbit to watch the Panthers Playoff Game.  Shauna and I did more talking than watching but we were pleased to hear they won at the end! ;)

These guys have been friends for 30+ years and I'm so glad Kevin has them.  Talk about really good guys.

Sunday I made a couple new to me recipes and I have to ask the master chef behind the marinara and meatballs if I'm permitted to share the recipes on my blog!  ;)  Otherwise, I played catch up around the house and chilled out.  Very much needed.

New Years Eve and Pawleys

I'm going to recap New Years Eve and my Pawleys Island trip today and our weekend tomorrow.  So here it goes...

NYE - our friends from the neighborhood Jeff and Kara had us over to their home and we had the best time!  We played Cards against Humanity and hung out.

I took a 7 layer dip and fudge.  Kara had made a whole bunch of stuff.  She had a honey baked ham, cranberry meatballs, brie with some chocolate sauce on it, a sausage dip, a gazillion cookies - all good stuff.

We got home around 1am and I had an early morning the next day.  I went to Pawleys Island to see my nieces, brother and SIL and their new home!

Anna Kate and Fin.

My parents were also there visiting so it was fun seeing them again too.

This is in their backyard.  They are right on Pawleys Creek.  Those houses you see in the background are ocean front.

Just a lil girl in her jon boat.

My girls, Fin and I.

Isn't it gorgeous?

Emily fixed the traditional New Years Day dinner - collards, black eyed peas and we had tenderloin my parents brought down.  My brother cooked it on his big green egg and it was really good.

The next morning, Sarah taught me how to use my new iPad.  Haha.

We went to breakfast and they scooted, biked and road their john deere tractor.

That afternoon I hit the road back to Charlotte to be with Kevin and Mills for the weekend and get my act together for reality today.  I had the best couple of weeks but I certainly put some miles on my car!

Who's excited to get back to a routine?!!  And for the Lilly sale this morning?!!  And the Bachelor beginning tonight?!!

2014 Year in Review

Thought it'd be fun to list some highlights of each month through this past year!  This is why I have my blog.  I love going back and looking at all of the fun things we've done and experiences we've gotten to see and do.

I don't blog for others to see what we've been doing and judge us for it.  I don't blog for money.  I don't blog because I have nothing else to do.  I don't blog because our life is perfect -- it's far from it.

I blog because it's my diary and I think our families enjoy seeing what we've been up to.  And I love that I have gotten to know so many new friends because of blogging.  And I love all the fun comments that you all are so sweet to leave me.  Can I get an amen from you other bloggers who get what I'm saying?

So, here were OUR highlights of 2014!

January - We got Mills and his brother together to play and we met some great friends in the process!

February - We found out Kevin was the #1 agent in North Carolina for 2013 and he won the big trip!

March - We did some things to our home including new backsplash.  And we hung out with our nieces!

April - We celebrated our anniversary and also went to China and Japan.

May - We went to Puerto Vallarta.

June - We went to Maryland for a wedding!

July - We went to Amelia Island which is one of our very favorite places.

August - We hosted a food truck party for Kevin's agent friends who we have gotten to travel the world with so we've become great friends.  And Mills turned two and celebrated with his brother!

September - We went to Kiawah Island and had a fun time, just the two of us!  We also did some work on our house.

October - We installed irrigation in our yard and had a fun time at a Panthers game!

November - We had a BIG November.  My parents visited Halloween weekend, we hosted the family reunion, went to the Greenbrier and my parents came back for Thanksgiving.

December - Went to Maryland for Christmas!

2015 will be an even bigger year for us!
