On Blogging.

I go through these phases about every two years when I think maybe I'll stop blogging.  Maybe I'll make it private.  Maybe I'll open it up to only certain friends of mine.  The reality is, I'll likely keep doing what I'm doing as long as I can make it happen.

It drives me nuts that some people that read here use it as a way into our lives.  Yes, I agree, I write a public blog, that's what I'm doing is putting it out there for the whole world to see.  Some of our friends and family use it to keep up with us, that's wonderful.  But I hate when it's used as a way to "be in touch" with us but not contact us.  Does that make sense?  It happens every day and I know it.

While our life may seem perfect, amazing and wonderful when you sit here and look at pictures, it isn't always perfect!  Trust me!  There is no perfect family, no perfect marriage, no perfect child.  The only perfect one around here is Mills because he doesn't speak! ;)  But Molly Anne is a close runner up when the sass isn't in her step that day!

Us bloggers deal with all kinds of criticism.  I get ugly comments.  And honestly, those bother me very little.  Ask any of my friends how I feel about them.  I'm like WHATEVER.  But to set the record straight, in general I don't care how my grammar is, I wasn't an English major, I'm an engineer!  I did Math in school.  I can't read or write and I'm not going to sit here and tell you I won a prize for my writing because I didn't.  So don't leave me comments about my grammar.  K.thx.bye.

I'm incredibly thankful to all of my sweet, kind and loyal readers!  Even if you don't comment, I know you're there.  I have made some wonderful friends through my little blog.  Friendships that have become my mom friends, my best friends and my most treasured friends.  This summer, my blog will be 9 years old - WHOA.  I've almost blogged every week, 5 times a week for 9 years.  Yikes!

As always, thanks for hearing me out!  Sometimes I need a refreshed head!  If you're thinking about starting a blog, do it!  Looking back at some of my old posts is amazing.  I have from when Kevin and I started dating, engagement, marriage, vacations, being pregnant with Molly Anne, all of Molly Anne's milestones and EVERYTHING on here.  Such precious memories and I have them all in writing with pictures too!  So happy to have this space and thank you all for following along!

  3. I have a lot of similar feelings about blogging; it's funny that we've both been thinking about this lately! I love reading your blog and all about your adventures, and I think that having the little community makes motherhood more fun!

  4. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch! Years from now when you have all this documented it will be so worth it!! Take it from a mom pre-blogging day. I wished we could have had this kind of keepsake/memory when my kids were smaller.

  5. I think you're a pretty real blogger, because your don't even pretend to give a shit. It's obvious that SO many other bloggers out there pretend that they don't give a shit, but we know they do with their perfect pictures and dressed kids. Just keep being you. Bad grammar and all. (although I never noticed it. Ha.)

  6. I've always wanted to start a blog and I have tried a couple of times and didn't keep up with it. I think it's a treasure that you have all of these memories documented to look back on. I love reading about your family and watching MA and Mills grow :) I love that you are genuine and write about the good and the bad. I hardly ever comment on blogs, which is probably terrible, but I think it's crazy that someone would ever say anything about someone's grammar or be hateful on someone's blog! I hope all of the positive comments outweigh the mean ones and you continue to do what's best for you!

  7. Love your blog for the same reason as everyone else--the realness (and cuteness! because, come on, does it get cuter than Molly Anne and Mills?!)! Meanwhile, anyone who has enough time to post a comment about someone's grammar...has too much time. I have a master's in writing and I make grammar errors every day because I'm human!

  10. I'm glad you're still blogging so I can keep up with you guys! There are some days I wish I still blogged and think seriously about starting it up again, but I don't know when I would find the time. I do miss the relationships I made a lot. Sorry theres some haters out there. But you have the best attitude about it and at the end of the day, if they don't like what you write, they don't have to read it!

  11. I love your honesty! I find the “real” nature of your blog refreshing. It’s obvious that you share your life, as is and are not looking to impress anyone. Molly Anne and Mills are adorable. I hope you continue to share your life with us!

  15. I really enjoy your blog and have always found it very real, not phony at all. I’m sorry you get some ugly comments. Some people are just miserable and need to get a life!

  16. I love your blog. You are real and sharing YOUR life. If anyone doesn’t like it, they don’t have to read it! Love MA and Mills, too! Also, you are such a role model in terms of combining family and career. Happy Pi Day to another math nerd!!! XXX

  17. LOVE your blog! I used to blog, but once Conner came along, I stopped. Well - I stopped around the time he turned 10 - 11 months. But I used to love it! But it was private - so only friends and family had access. I've thought about starting again, and making it public this time, but some people are just MEAN, and I don't know that I could brush it off like you do! You do you, boo!! The folks who matter love you as you are! Keep on keepin' on!
