90’s Party and First Basketball Game

On Friday night we went to our neighbors Brad and Natasha’s for their 90’s birthday party! It was a good time! Kevin and I are not typically dress up people but the night before the party, I thought back to the 90’s and what I did during that time. I went on my parents boat called the Nail Byter every weekend! I pulled out my “Nail Byter” sweatshirt and wore that for the preppy 90s outfit with a fav tennis skirt! Easy, comfortable and done!

Saturday morning Molly Anne had her first basketball of the season at the Y! She’s been practicing every Monday night so this was fun for her to finally get to play a game!

Her biggest fan! He loved watching!

She ended up scoring a basket and had a couple of assists! It was awesome!

Here’s to a great season of ball for her!

We went to Southpark during the day on Saturday and had lunch at Pacos Tacos. That night we went out to Red Sake for sushi. Basically all we did this weekend was eat out ha! Went to the club for Sunday brunch yesterday. Saw a bunch of friends there which is always fun and why we love the club so much.

Hope everyone has a good week. I’m still trying to get my 2023 world going. I feel like I started the year pretty organized but I have so much work stuff going on right now that I’m consumed by it during the week. I’m also trying to figure out the kid’s spring activities, Grady going to Kindergarten or not and what’s going to go on this summer. Lots to think about and get right in my head. Anyone else feel me on all that?! I need to do a working mom post! I feel like it’s changed over the years!

Five on Friday

1. The rock at school had to be painted! She wouldn’t get to do this if she didn’t do it for her half birthday because of summer! And this is a big deal to my Molly Annie! Kindergarten year I paid someone to paint it. Last year I painted it and then couldn’t write for 3 days from pressing the spray paint can. This year I enlisted help and she loved doing it! And of course Grady came and ended up with neon pink paint on his pants. Thanks to my friend Candice who had someone paint it for her daughter earlier in the week. Molly Anne was so happy that there was already a dog there for Elle so we kept it!

2. This picture of them coming out of swim practice cracks me up! I got her this swim coat for Christmas and it is wonderful! Keeps her warm on the chilly days! Grady had been at swim too!

3. The gentleman, always holding the doors open and wanting to carry boxes!

4. I've worked A LOT this week. Honestly playing some catch up from the holidays but mostly because I have a zillion projects and a lot going on with them. Goes in phases so I'll take it and just get it done. Grind time!

5. Anyone else following the Idaho college crime and this guy that was arrested in Pennsylvania? I cannot stop reading articles about it. His parents live in a very small town where I built a Tractor Supply years ago so I'm familiar with the area. Wild! I just can't get over the whole thing. I'm sure there's more to the story but why didn't the roommate call 911 when she saw him in their house?! Lots of reasons I'm sure but so scary, all of it!

Shopping the Lilly sale? I bet they add new styles today!

Keeping Things Organized

Yep, it’s the new year and we should all have our house perfectly organized, right?! Let’s be realistic, we can do a little along the way that makes a big impact!

These are a few things that have helped Molly Anne and I get better organized and hope they do the same for you. They’re all from Amazon and less than $20 each and have made a big difference for us!

Molly Anne is 7.5!

Today Molly Anne is 7.5 years old! Cannot believe that. 8 sounds so much older than 6 or 7 years old. I don't know, I guess I'm in denial that she is growing up!

Here are some Molly Anne facts!

1. She does not want to miss one thing, ever! I think she is afraid to go to sleep at night because she will miss something!! I understand the feeling!

2. She is very into doing all of the sports. Currently she's in her "sports year" where she decided to not dance and instead she is swimming year round (3 times a week) and playing one sport each season. She did field hockey in the Fall, currently doing basketball and will do either softball or lacrosse in the Spring. It's our job to let them try all of things before they decide (or don't decide) what they like! She also likes playing tennis with me and going on bike rides, scooter rides and all of that!

3. She has lots of friends at school and in the neighborhood. I hope she's always a good friend to others. I'm sure she's had her moments but I think part of that is growing up. I also encourage her to be friends with everyone, not just the people she's used to hanging with (aka my friend's kids).

4. She will eat pretty much most things except salmon, shrimp, avocado (she used to love them) and tomatoes. She will eat spaghetti sauce but not a raw tomato. She is good about eating fruits and veggies. Her favorite foods are buttered pasta, chicken nuggets and pizza like a typical kiddo!

5. She's a confident little girl and sometimes not the most humble but we love her for it. She says out loud that she's good at something to convince herself that she can do certain things. Cracks me up.

6. Reading is one of her favorite things to do and she will read for hours at night if I let her. She can read and do math with the best of them. She loves science and social studies too. She loves all school basically. She enjoys art and music as well. Her imagination is wild!

7. Legos are still a hot favorite of hers, along with any crafts. She is known to find things we will be throwing away and "make them into a craft!" Space is a favorite topic for her as well. And she's into her American Girl dolls right now which is cute.

8. Grady is probably her favorite human. The two of them are two peas in a pod. Love hard and fight hard but mostly it's love all of the time. She loves Mills in a big big big way.

9. She will still wear bows and headbands and allll of the girly clothes. She does her own hair mostly each morning but sometimes I do touch it up! I like that she enjoys getting herself dressed and looking nice each day. I wonder if she'll ever wear a pair of jeans though (minus the white pair she wore when she was 2 years old)!!

10. She says she's going to go to NC State and be a space engineer and go to space one day!

We love her SO much! Happy seven and a half to our Molly Anne!

Last of OIB Pics

It was a beautiful start to the new year. Running and walking on the beach early in the morning is one of my very favorite things to do. It’s renewing and recharging! Gives me a fresh perspective!

It was foggy this day too. Wild!

They love being on the beach any time of year! This may be my favorite though when it’s not 8 million degrees!!

We took this boy out there with us for a day too! He LOVED it.

Don’t know if I ever shared our outdoor furniture by Telescope that we ordered from Furnitureland South. The sofa is actually a light blue. The chair has some green and dark gray in it. Looking for a rug!

Selfies with my buddy who wanted to sit on my lap then started taking pictures!

Little time on the dock with my puppy!

He’s the king!

Hope everyone gets back to the grind okay this week! Sports were back in action yesterday afternoon so we left the beach in the AM to get back in time!

Other OIB Pics

I have two more posts of OIB pics to share. Nothing riveting but special beach days in January with my crew!

NYE in OIB

Well happy 2023!!! It’s the new year! Ready to start fresh!

We had a fun day yesterday in Ocean Isle. They do the cutest events for the children! First they had crafts at the museum then they had a beach ball drop from the ladder fire truck at the park. Watching them set up the truck was a huge highlight for Grady!

A firefighter climbed to the top and dropped the piƱata and a thousand kids ran for candy! Molly Anne in the middle of it of course! She’s in the center of the above picture in pink pants!

For dinner we did hibachi at Hilary’s house. Drew got one of those hibachi grills and all five families pitched in and got all of the food. It was so good!

Watching Steve cook hibachi was one of the funniest things! It was hilarious.

Grady had really wanted to go to the Shark Drop at Sharkys at 8pm so he and I ran down there to do that. It was fun and I’m glad we did! He loved it but thought the shark was going to be lowered into the water haha!

Tyler and Grady!

Only picture of I have of her from that night. She loved playing with her friends.

We came home about 9:15 and got the kids in bed. I liked watching the Nashville countdown on TV and seeing some country music performers.

Here’s to 2023!
