Garth Brooks and Monster Jam

We had a big weekend in our world. First, we got a new bed. We ordered it back in February and it arrived from Furnitureland South on Friday. We need to get bedding. And our side tables and dresser will be delivered later in the year. It’s a big upgrade from our $125 four post antique bed we got from Craigslist right before we got married. We are growing up haha! Yes navy velvet! It was fun picking each part of it out!

Molly Anne had a play date at the neighborhood pool Friday afternoon so she did that while I worked from the pool chair. Aria is a sweet girl in our hood. I play tennis with her mom!

That night we went to our club with a few other families and had a great time! This queen dressed herself of course! Makeup and the whole shebang.

Saturday we had a birthday party for Molly Anne in the morning. I will post about that tomorrow!

Around 4:30pm Mark took us and two other couples uptown to meet another two couples so 10 of us had dinner at Fin and Fino! We did the “treatment” which is whatever the chef wants to send out. It was delicious! Highly recommend!

And then we headed to see Garth Brooks at the panthers stadium! It was UNREAL.

I think once you’ve been to a Garth concert, it’s hard to go to another one. He’s so personable. He talks to everyone like they’re just like him. I think that’s why people really connect with him. He’s likeable and thankful. And his energy is off the charts. He put on an unbelievable show.

He came on about 8:15pm and played until almost 11pm. It was solid. Trisha joined for a couple of songs.

We likely didn’t deserve to be in public at this point! But it was a gooooood time with gooooood friends!

Sunday morning I woke up and went to a tennis clinic. My friend Kate also played and she was taking her boys to Monster Jam that afternoon. I had thought about it a few weeks ago but it just seemed like a lot in one weekend. Well I came home from tennis and asked Kevin what he thought and he was like take them if you want! So I didn’t tell the kids where we were going, we just got in the car and rolled!

This is a pic of a boy that was about to go to Monster Jam and didn’t know it!

We actually ended up driving behind a friend from our neighborhood so we went to the light rail station with them and took the light rail for some added fun!

He was soooo excited!!!

Poor thing with Molly Anne’s old noise cancelers! Molly Anne wore Kevin’s Bose ones and I wore my AirPods. I probably didn’t need anything as most adults didn’t but my head hurt from Garth the night before ha.

They were pretty mesmerized. The show lasted over two hours which was a bit too long for us but we stayed and watched it all. Molly Anne was likely the only girl there in a Lilly dress but she had dressed herself so fine!

They each got to pick a little souvenir.

Grady and Neyland! It was fun going with John and Neyland!

See what I mean?! Busy weekend. Now it’s Monday! Chat soon friends.

Five on Friday

1. Molly Anne has been at chess camp at Latin this week and she loves it! She’s beating all of the boys too which is super awesome! ;)

2. Grady and I got some Lego time in on Wednesday evening. He loves doing them and I honestly need to spend more time with him doing these. I used to do them with Molly Anne and now she’s a Lego master (way better than I am). Legos are sooooo good for their little minds!

Grady needs some extra fine motor help and legos accomplish that too!

3. Molly Anne also tried out for a year round swim team last night and she made a team! Very exciting.

4. I’ve been trying my best to stay at my office during lunch and not wonder over to Nordstrom. Thankfully I’ve been very busy and haven’t gone there to spend any extra $$!

5. We are getting a new bed today so that’s exciting! We took our old one down last night. We got it right before we got married for $150 on Craigslist.  We will keep it and use it in a spare room. Upgrade photo to come next week. Side tables and dresser will not be here until late this year. We are growing on up in the world! Time to do something decorative in our bedroom!

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

This Week Favs

1. How perfect is this clip dot black dress? A true classic to have in your closet for any event. $67

2. Yessss I ordered these. I couldn't help it.

3. I get so many comments on my booties each year and they're old from Nordstrom. I'd grab these this year. They have a low heel which makes them very wearable.

4. I've tried other brand of stick eye shadow and Bobbi Brown always wins. This set is a good way to try a few colors. I smidge a little of the lighter in the corner of my eye and darker on the outside and blend.

5. Ohhh these kicks are on my wish list in a big way.

6. If you don't own leather spanx, now is your time to get them on sale. Size up, I wear XL.

7. These pajamas are a great present for a mom, grandmother, mother in law, etc. I wear these every night and I've had them forever. Still look new.

8. A few years ago I bought Molly Anne some uggs and I swore I'd never do it again. They didn't wear well on a 3 year old. I remember she tripped going into gymnastics the first time she wore them and it scuffed the front. Made me crazy! Well, she then proceeded to wear them for legit 3 years and every day during the winters. She loved not having to wear socks. So....since they were on sale and she needed a bigger size, I got a new pair for her to wear for the next 3 years!!

9. Some cute shoes I can wear for work or on the weekends!

Mid Week Randoms

Yesterday drove me crazy being on Instagram. Anyone else? People were going cray trying to make some cash money from Prime Day and promoting alllll of the things. And a lot of the same things!!! Prime Day is great…IF you need something or find a great gift!

I got a new round echo for my bedside table so I can see what time it is in the middle of the night without looking at my phone. Kevin got a new toothbrush because he was at the dentist and they told him about it being 40% off! Haha!

I’m finally getting back to “normal” in my world after a wild couple of weeks. My Mom flew back to Maryland on Monday night. Dad is feeling much better thankfully. Thank you all for checking in about them!

There isn’t much more amazing to me than walking or running on the beach super early in the morning. I really like doing it. Even better when there’s a sunrise. I try to workout down at the beach every couple/few days. Sometimes with Hilary and sometimes by myself. She and I did a HIIT class one day last week at the Town Park while the kids played on the playground. One morning I walked while Grady scooted. Another morning I ran for an hour. Hilary and I did a Peloton HIIT cardio class one day. It is good to move and burn off one high noon or two! ;)

This pic from the way home on Sunday cracks me up! Molly Anne fake sleeping and Grady sleeping. He almost always naps on the way home. We usually leave midday so that happens! 3 hours and 20 minutes done and done. Good little travelers … no stopping!

Hope everyone is having a good week. We have some swim stuff going on this week and Grady has soccer tonight! Cheers!

Birthday Gift - Keyboard

We gave Molly Anne a keyboard for her birthday! It was honestly a random idea but my niece loves playing piano and a friend of mine got her daughter a keyboard for her 7th birthday. I just knew Molly Anne would think it was cool and she has LOVED it…for the three days she’s had it haha! She knew about the Simply Piano app somehow so we signed up for that and she’s learning how to play! It’s awesome and I’m so excited for her!

Beach

We wrapped up our week at the beach and now life is going to get back to normal without swim team every day. Ahhhh! We have 7 weeks of summer left and 5 have past.

Girls in their Lilly!

Grady is very into “silly face” pics after the regular one is taken!

Ken and his son Aiden came for a bit on Friday after we got back from the beach.

We all went to watch Band of Oz at the Town Park. They were fabulous!

Grady had to go dance on the first song! He’s so shy ha!

Mr. Charlie and Grady!

Kiddos have a fun summer!

Love this pic of the three girlies. I hope they always remember these summers at the beach together. Fond memories they’re making!

My Mom and I! It was soooooo hot!

My buddy from work that sits next to me there is always in OIB. His daughter is super sweet and loves to join in too!

There they are - Kevin, Ken and Sam

Early Saturday morning shopping. You have to go to the grocery super early on a Saturday if you’re going to go. You must beat the Saturday to Saturday rental traffic. People leaving the island and people coming on. Grady and I scooted over the bridge at 7am to pick up some things for a makeup bday celebration for Molly Anne!

His teacher Ms. Paula and her daughter Cori came to visit! This was so sweet!

And Hilary basically made my child the happiest on earth with a surprise celebration! Her very fav. Since Molly Anne had a fever the day before her actual birthday earlier this week, she couldn’t celebrate with friends on her big day. She was so bummed as she counts down to her big day for 364 days a year! Anyway, Hilary made it super special and got some Lego decor, party hats and more! It made my mama heart so happy. Let me tell you, it’s good to have good friends y’all. And Molly Anne loved every moment! I have a video of the surprise and it was adorable.

An Oreo ice cream cake - we knew she’d love that!

Legos!!! Beach Surfer House!

And she had some late night visitors back at our house that brought her a surprise too - Lego treehouse!

She was like omg mama - me in a pic with all boys ahhhh!!

We came back to charlotte yesterday and have settled back in! Whew!

Six on Friday

1. Grady spent the night at my brother and sister in laws Wednesday night this week and had the best time!  Lots of attention on Grady and I’m glad he enjoyed it!

2. Meanwhile back in Ocean Isle - Kevin caught a fish off our dock!

3. Molly Anne got to have a special night with Maggie and Greer. We steamed some crabs and shrimp and then took them to watch a movie in the park - Encanto!

4. Our beach neighbor a couple doors down shared a bunch from their garden. Ever seen a round cucumber or white squash?! So good!

5. Molly Anne the Lego queen put this canal boat together in less than a day! She loves it and can’t stop working on them!

6. Grady in his crazy hat that he made at school for July 4th! He loves it so much!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
