I don't know if I told yall but I got the Keratin treatment on my hair back in early May. This is day 1 after they make it super straight. You can't wash it for 48 hours but ideally 3 days.

It was so flat for the few weeks after (even after washing) that I had to wear it half up half down to show any sort of volume like I was used to. It was super easy to wash and dry and was pretty much straight. It did hold some curl but not much. The goal of keratin is to really straighten and smooth. I got it in May so it would last for summer and so my hair wasn't so wild with the humidity for work!

This pic below is from about 90 days after. Already back to frizz. They had told me it could last up to 6 months if I didn't wash it every day. I wash about 1-2 times a week and it still barely lasted 3 months. I'm glad I did it to see what it was about and it was great for about 2 months but it's a lot of money for 2 months of ease ($450 with tip).

You can see, it's semi tamed and held up well with humidity but I don't think I'll be doing it regularly. I have a lot of hair...I think this is for people with even more hair than me!

That's my review and I plan to read this next time I get the itch to tame the mane at the tune of $$$!
Thank you for your honest review! I too have tried to like Keratin treatments for my super thick hair butttt I am a volume girl and hated the stick straight flat to my head look. I like you had about 2 weeks of holding a curl and wow it’s worth it until it wasn’t. Every summer I book an apt and then remember the dreaded “I hate the look but love the concept” theory! Last time I did a Keratin Light (half the $ but half the last) and that was another waste of &…I am giving up and staying loyal to hair oil and all the product it takes to tame the mess….
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the light - thank you for saving me ha! Alllll of the oil!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot more hair and I love keratin. Did you use keratin shampoo and conditioner bought from the salon? That really makes a difference. I’ve never been told it would last 6 months and mine usually do well for 3 months and month 4 is iffy. I do mine late May to last all summer. I do keratin complex at the salon and use that shampoo and conditioner. I love the no frizz, but my hair still has a ton of volume.
ReplyDeleteI started having Brazilian blowouts almost fifteen years ago. I never stopped, though now they’re illegal so it’s keratin. I could not get through the summer without them. Even with going to the beach and frequent washing, my hair stays much more manageable for at least 8 or 9 months afterwards. Luckily, we don’t pay a s much in the country I live in…. For really long hair it could be 200 euros, but it’s usually 120-140.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always been curious about Keratin but haven’t gone for it!
