It feels like blogging is becoming a lot less popular and some of my favorite blogs have gone away.
I wonder why?
Too many mean people in the world?
Not enough time in the day?
People just tired of writing?
Instagram more popular?
I don't know, it's kind of sad. Thoughts?
For me, my work has been very busy and I am trying to spend a lot of my free time with friends, family and getting back in shape. While I love sharing with y'all I need a baby break but I'm trying to keep up with everyone!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to talk about anymore! Although my weekends are super fun, they involve a lot of the same activities. I'm not a fashion blogger so I don't have that to blog about. I don't have a kid, so I don't have that to blog about. ?????
ReplyDeleteI started this new blog because it has a focus - food - but I left my old one because of a combination of wanting to be a more private person in general and also the meanies. It's so sad that it has to be my responsibility to "get over it" and "rise above it" and "don't let it get to [me]" but it's never on THEM to not be cruel.
ReplyDeleteI've actually noticed the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI think it's because people are more into Instagram.
It's like instant/live blogging. Honestly, I keep mine up because it's a journal. I love looking back. It's like my scrapbook and I don't really care if anyone reads it.
As for mean people... I think that does have something to do with it.
GOMI is awful.

ReplyDeleteI feel like I never have enough time in the day, so blogging always gets pushed to the back burner. But also, I run out of topics to talk about! Sometimes I just draw a blank.
ReplyDeleteI know! I feel the same and yet I'm one if the ones who has become very infrequent. When my job switched about 5 months ago I got sooooo much more busy. Tons of time in the actually office and less in the field and working from home. The last thing I want to do is open a computer when I get home. I do miss it, but more so miss the ones I read! So don't stop ;)
ReplyDeleteI have so much to blog about, just no time! I know what you mean though. I hate to see my favorite bloggers disappear.
ReplyDeleteI totally think instagram is a big part of it! It's so quick and easy to update and share and comment on. And I hate to tell the same story on my blog that I've already put on IG.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's really hard to keep up with my blog during the school year. But I really want to do something with my blog and make it a bigger part of my life.
ReplyDeleteI think "lifestyle" blogging has become too homogeneous, too #precious, too #blessed. It's like, If you read one blog, you read them all. When I started feeling like my post were falling under that umbrella, I just lost the desire to write. I keep thinking when/if I have something more creative to offer I'll write again. I know my tens and tens of followers long for that day....HA.
ReplyDeleteI just thought about this yesterday. I miss ready some of the bloggies that have gone private or even away because of the "meanies". And I hate to ask to follow if it's private since numbers are limited and I don't know them IRL. We still have annie and aliz:)
ReplyDeleteI hate it too. Especially mine. My job has taken up too much of my time lately. Keith keeps telling me I need to go back to it. However, I make time to still read yours, buddy! Miss ya!
ReplyDeleteI love taking time and blogging here and there and find it such a stress reliever. I also love the memories I have been able to put together and share. I have met so many new people from blogging. ericasrunningjourney.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWith me between school, work and working out I haven't had time to blog. I think Instagram, going private because of the mean people, and people who just outgrew blogging entirely has a lot to blame for the reduce number of regular life bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI don't blog, just read for relaxation and great lifestyle/travel ideas. I loved Hopsy's blog and was terribly dismayed that she disappeared from the blogosphere. When I heard about GOMI, I was astonished that people could be so snarky and petty. If they don't have anything good to say, then clearly they were raised by she-wolves who never taught them to respect the rights of others to express themselves. After reading those comments, I would frankly be terrified to blog and subject myself to that sort of abuse. However, please keep your blog and travelogues coming. We went to China last year and it was fantastic to re-visit our favorite sites and experiences via you.
ReplyDeleteI've felt this way too. I wonder if it is because of summer? I know that now is a busy time of year. I've been pretty busy at work, trying to wrap up the year. I haven't felt terribly inspired, but I don't want to give up on my blog. Even though it's frivolous, it brings me a lot of joy to keep up with other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you!!! I love your blog and lifestyle blogs in general, and I feel as if there has been a decline in the genre ever since Instagram became popular. I don't follow many bloggers who only post photo shoots of themselves bc I just don't find it that interesting. I'd rather know more about all aspects of their personality and interests! I also think commenting on blogs has declined significantly even since Instagram came up!
ReplyDeleteFor me, the desire to blog just isn't there anymore. I also don't like reading blogs that are just affiliate links, there are so many blogs are showing the exact same sponsored or c/o things. I've found it hard to find blogs that I can identify with where I am in my own life.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a combination of not having the time and the popularity of Instagram. I used to be really disciplined about sitting down and posting, but lately I've struggled to carve time out for blogging.
ReplyDeleteI agree and as someone who has blogged maybe 5 times in 2014 it makes me sad.
ReplyDeleteI just feel I've gotten boring and I'm not doing super fun things like I used to be and I miss it, but just haven't had the desire to post. I miss reading about everyone and how they are doing though because most of my blog friends have been doing the same thing too.
This is a great question, and I too miss so many of my old favorite blogs!
ReplyDeleteI've put blogging on the back burner lately, but have no plans to retire permanently. Eventually I'll get back into it, right?
