Rome - Day 3

Are you all getting tired of my recaps yet?  Don't worry, they get a whole lot more exciting in two more posts when we meet up with Kevin's work.  But I'm really glad to still be doing these day by day because I took SO many pictures and after all, this is my scrapbook!

On Tuesday, July 30th, we switch hotels from the Marriott on Via Veneto (popular, more fancy area) to a Hilton Garden Inn which was in more of a residential district.  Tried to use our hotel points ha!

Before we checked out of the Marriott, we took advantage to how close it was to the shopping district in Rome.  We walked over to the Spanish steps (about 10 minute walk for us).  Kevin looked so touristy in his running shoes.  I loved wearing my boat shoes...they were so practical and comfortable.  I don't care that I didn't look perfect every day I was over there.  My uniform was a different pair of J. Crew or Lilly shorts and a J. Crew tee every day, haha!  It was great for me - it was 8,000 degrees and I was comfortable.

We stopped at a cafe for a quick breakfast.  I had my first espresso EVER!  It really didn't make me hyper or full of energy.  I felt the same.  Maybe I'm weird.

Then we walked in some shops on the fancy street - Via del Condotti.  Gucci, Valentino, etc.  And didn't buy a thing!

We walked back over to the Marriott, grabbed our suitcases and jumped in a taxi over to our new hotel.  It was in the cutest residential area and close to some shops.  So, we walked and walked!

Found a tasty lunch!

...at Taverna Rossini.  Best ever.

So much that we walked some more, hung out in the room playing catch up on our phones then went back for a late dinner.

This salad was SO good.  Just easy - tomatoes, red onion, cucumber with oil and vinegar.  I'll be making this at home.

Best champagne risotto!

We called it an early night and got ready for our day trip to Florence the next day!

  1. I can't believe you had never had espresso before! I've been drinking it since I was a kid! Literally! My parents have always had a machine in our house. Guess it's a European thing! I totally agree about your uniform, when it's hot while traveling I'm all about comfort!
