We had a fabulous weekend in Maryland!
We left Charlotte at 5:30am on Friday and arrived in Maryland at my parents house just before 2pm. Record timing to do it in 8.5 hours with 2 stops, especially since it rained terribly a lot of the time. The kids are such good travelers. It takes 8 hours of driving so having two efficient stops was awesome. Not their first rodeo! Gas, bathroom, lunch and some combo thereof. I always bring snacks and water bottles to have along the way. We always crank out 3.5 hours in the early morning hours.
Of course Nannie and Poppa had allll of the treats for the kids!
Friday was Dad’s birthday so we hung at home for dinner and had some gin and tonics!
Grady slept on the top bunk! For some reason Molly Anne wasn’t into it this time. Whatever…they worked it out.
Saturday we went to the zoo with Mom then met Dad at Backstreet Grill for lunch. Cream of crab soup and beach fries were calling! Of course a Bloody Mary too!
My parents took Kevin to do an errand and I took the kids to see Aunt Jenni!
She loves my kids like they’re her own!
They put in lots of miles on their scooters!
This is what this hound did.
For the birthday dinner we ended up at Red Roost for crabs after Old Mill had too long of a wait. Like usual, those things work out and Red Roost was fabulous!
We hadn’t been to pick crabs in the restaurant since Molly Anne was a baby because a toddler doesn’t want to sit there for 2.5 hours watching their mother pick a zillion crabs. They did this time and got in on the picking as well. Raising them right!
Easter morning! The EB came! He brought each of them 3 or 4 things plus one pair of spring shoes. I’m glad he didn’t go overboard this year! The kids were just as thrilled, if not more than usual! Also, the day before, Molly Anne told us that we were the Easter Bunny and I said well I don’t know what you’re talking about because that’s just crazy! Ahhhhh.
We went down to Sunset Grille at the beach for lunch. Crab and shrimp salad.
The Easter Bunny stopped by! Grady was not interested in getting near him even though he announced that the Easter Bunny was a dressed up guy because he saw his shoes and shorts. Ahhhh. But the EB was super good to him and fist bumped and slapped hands. Then we got this pic..!
Also, it was way too cold for Molly Anne’s natives but she got them for Easter so she had to wear them! ;)
The fam!
We went down to the inlet and Dad, the kids and I ended up in Playland arcade.
It was fun!
After a stop for ice cream at my former place of employment, Dumser’s Dairyland, we went home. We went for a long walk and watched The Masters. It was a good, good day and weekend!
