I have a friend named Cathy. And I don't have a picture of her because that's not what is important. You wouldn't think she is a typical friend of mine based on appearances only but she is a friend to me. And a sweet, genuine, thoughtful friend.
You see, I met Cathy over a year ago. She works at Harris Teeter where I go weekly for lunch.
We first bonded over talking about day to day life....you know, the weather, holidays, weekend plans. The usual small talk. Then in March of this year I told her I had to watch what I got from her for lunch because I was getting married in a few weeks ha! Turns out, her niece got married our exact same day - April 6. We talked and talked the next few weeks about it. I went to see her the Wednesday before we got married and told her I'd be thinking of she and her niece at 5pm our wedding day. And I did.
Then we got back from our honeymoon, she handed me the nicest card for Kevin and I. It was just SO thoughtful. We had people who came to our wedding who gave us extremely nice gifts and we had people who came to our wedding who gave us nothing and we had people who DIDN'T come to our wedding who gave us nice gifts.
This card meant so much to me. Just because it was from Cathy. A CARD! Thoughtful.
So earlier this week I went to Teeter with something for HER! I took her our Christmas card because she's the type of person who would want to see it. I also stuck a little Target gift card in there with a note telling her how thankful I am for her. I handed it to her and told her it was our Christmas card and you would have thought I hung the moon. She was so excited. I didn't tell her about the rest of what was in there but I hope she gets to treat herself to something special. Because she deserves it. She makes my week anytime I see her and this was the least I could do.
Do something nice for someone in your life this weekend. It brought me SO MUCH joy to give this to her.
SO sweet. I hope a lot of people pay it forward from reading your post. I think that is wonderful. Merry Christmas. That's the true spirit of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet of you! I like to leave something for my UPS/FedEx guys on the front porch. :)
ReplyDeleteAw! That was so nice of you! I love hearing these stories this time of year.
ReplyDeleteAWWW! HOW SWEET! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I've made friends with a woman who works at the Sam's photo lab. I've even seen her out and about around town and we always stop and talk.
ReplyDeleteBrad laughs at me but there's just something about it that's pretty special.
She saw Shelby as a newborn and I stop by the lab every time we go to Sam's so she can see how much S has grown!
So sweet!
ReplyDeleteReally, really touching post. I think random acts of kindness are so wonderful at this time of year. Cathy sounds like a wonderful person.
