Weddings 2014

Gosh I was thinking on my way to work the other day how calm things have been this year wedding-wise.

We've been to one so far but then I thought about all of the weddings in the Fall we have been invited to attend.  We have two on one weekend at the end of September...both work with Kevin...and they're two hours apart (one in Greenville, SC and the other here in Charlotte).  This won't be our first double wedding day...we went to two weddings in one day the weekend before getting engaged in 2011.  We have one two weeks later for a gal I work with.  Then the following weekend for a friend of Kevin's.  That's four weddings in four weekends!  The last one is in December for friends of mine down in Charleston.

These five weddings we have at the end of this year - none of the couples were invited to ours.  Some days I wish I could go back and change some things about our wedding, mainly adding more people but we did what we felt was right at the time.  I can't regret that now.  It was the right decision.

I love going to weddings.  I'd love to go back and count how many Kevin and I have attended in our 5.5 years together...bet we average about 6-10 a year, sometimes more.  And I went to a lot right after school...there was one year (2006) I had 10 weddings and was in 4 of them.  THAT was a crazy Spring and Summer...bachelorette parties, bridal showers etc. and a lot of travel for all of those fun events!

Tell me about your wedding escapades!

  1. I have a large extended Portuguese family so growing up we would even get invited to third cousin's weddings! I've probably been to 15-20 so far I would guess. However, none of my friends have yet to get married or engaged. I can't wait for that to start!

  2. I love weddings! I think it definitely comes in spurts. I think my friends are now moving to the baby stage, so we will see!

  3. I've got two on the horizon, probably one in 2015 and one in 2016 - a friend who is already engaged but in no rush, and a friend who is just waiting for her BF to pop the question (we ALL are waiting!!) Most of our friends have been long married, but I hope we have more than 2 to attend in the next 2 years!

  4. Yay wedding in Charleston! Let me know if you need a place to crash. Our weddings have significantly slowed down this year. We've been to one this year, and it will probably be the only one. Sad!

  5. Our weddings have started to slow down too. I didn't think we were going to have any to go this year till we got Theo's cousin's invitation for her wedding in August. Let's plan a meet up when you're here in December!! Life as I know it

  6. We hardly get invited to weddings anymore.
Most of our friends are married, but I have several girlfriends who are not.Hoping for some fun ones in the future :)
We had one in May and another in November and that's it for us.
Since we've gotten older we've been to some killer weddings. Tahoe, Ojai, super fun!

  7. Our wedding season is just taking off. We were on the young side when we got married and were among the first of most of our friends. We had 5 last year, and we have 3 (only attending 2) this year....with at least 2 or 3 a year for the forseeable future.

I love weddings but they can get VERY expensive!

  8. I just realized that 2014 will be my first non-wedding year since, I think, 2007? Whew!

We were actually scheduled for a wedding last weekend, and the bride (one of my BFFs) called it off. It's basically a scene from a movie, and I don't want to blog about it because I don't want to hurt the brides feelings.... although my thoughts are 100% YOU GO GIRL.

    Crazy, huh?
