Snow 2014

Happy Valentines Day!  Ours will be spent doing things around the house and playing with our buddy!  We will be celebrating tomorrow night in the neighborhood for Couples Bunko.  We are looking forward to that!

Well, what a snowstorm this has been for Charlotte and most of the south.  I've never seen snow like this in North Carolina in my almost 14 years of being here.  We ended up not going on our work trip and it was honestly probably for the best.  We could have gotten out of Charlotte on Wednesday morning but we never would have made it home!

Below, I've done a Wednesday recap and a Thursday recap.

Wednesday Recap:
So, once I got Kevin home from work on Wednesday at noon (which was too stressful), I was a happy person.  I made white chicken chili and crockpot lasagna.  He insisted on working Wednesday and I took him there.  We have both learned from our mistake.

Anyway here are some pictures:

Mills is refusing to come inside.  He is OBSESSED with the snow.

We did have a nap time on Wednesday afternoon.

He played with the other golden (Lexie) across the street and the two newfoundlands next door to Lexie.  He loved that.

Full steam ahead.

Walk me Mama!

Let's sled!  The kids have had so much fun because most of our homes are up on a hill and it's the perfect hill to sled down.

Frozen tennis balls.

This is how he plays with his tennis ball.  And he also plays soccer with it.

Snowy boy!

Thursday Recap:
We got a little more snow today.

Mills and I went on a walk!

I've never seen bigger snowflakes than I did when we were on our walk.  It was SO pretty.  I'm sure all of this snow is because of Mills' snowflake collar his grandparents gave him! ;)

Our front steps were like a ramp with the ice layer that was in the middle of the snow.

But the sun came out yesterday afternoon and I got to work.  Kevin's car was stuck at the bottom of our driveway so I shoveled (with a regular shovel, not a snow shovel which we don't own) some tire tracks and got it up and around the house to the garage.  He worked inside and watched me do manual labor outside.  Haha, I'm joking.  He didn't ask me to do this but I felt my old-Maryland-self come out and I wanted to shovel!

One of the boys across the street and his friend built a sledding track on our front lawn.  They put a bump in it and got air as they went down.  It's hard to see in this picture but 2/3 of the way down the picture is their bump.  It was too cute.  I made peanut butter cookies and took them each a couple which they loved.

Then Mills and I went on another walk and played with more of the kids in the neighborhood.  They live across the street from us and LOVE Mills.  They kept feeding him snow balls and he loved every second of it.  When I told him it was time to go home, he put all four paws out that he was not coming with me.  Of course he did anyway.

Check out this insane snowman that some high schoolers built a few houses down.  It's 9' tall.

Some pics around our house...

More of the kiddos and Mills.  I don't know why these pictures are out of order.

I also shoveled more in the back where we don't get much sun.  This will make taking our buddy outside easier.

Our backyard.  SO pretty!

He's played so hard both days and crashed each night.  So cute!

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

  1. Hi Annie! I just recently found your blog and I love your golden! We have a golden too and she is obsessed with the snow. It takes a lot of effort to get her inside because she just wants to play all day. So cute!

  5. I love all these Mills pics! My dogs are pansies and they didn't spend much time outdoors at all. We are still snowed in here in Huntersville. Hoping this melts soon so I can get out of my house!

  6. You Marylanders are such great spouses when it snows; my husband shoveled out tire tracks too. I thought he was nuts until we easily moved our cars this morning. I wish Camden would sleep with me like Mills sleeps with you. Has he always done that?

  7. You house looks so lovely in the snow and Mills is so cute playing in it! Corey's car had no trouble in the snow but I am getting a little nervous about having to get mine back in the driveway this afternoon. Might have to pick up a snow shovel (if they're not totally sold out, ha!) on my way home.
