Pups

Do you ever have those days when you REALLY want a dog?

Lately I have been dying to have a golden retriever.  Don't know what it is but I really would love one.
It isn't practical though.  I travel way too much and living in a high rise condo building (and working 30 minutes away), it would be such a committment to take him out many times a day.  Plus, he wouldn't have a yard to play in whenever he wanted.
My brother and I grew up with a golden retriever named Charlie.  Char-Char (as I called him) and I were best friends.  I loved that dog so much.  He died when I was a sophomore in college and that was a very sad day.  I still go home and expect Charlie to run to the door.

Thankfully my brother has Fin so he is fun to play with (he's in the picture below).  My parents haven't gotten another dog just because they want the freedom to come and go as well.
Do you all have a dog?  What kind and what is his/her name?

  2. Annie, the second you get out of that high rise and into a house, you have to get one! I have a golden retriever, Barkley. Barkley turned 1 in June and he is the love of my life. While in college he had a great backyard but now he lives in an apartment. It's an adjustment but as long as he gets a walk every other day or so he's fine. Most dogs adapt to your lifestyle. Goldens really are the best though. I also have grown up with a Golden. Ritz, who lives at home with my parents, turns 10 in November.

  3. If you want a golden I completely agree with waiting, but I'll tell you...my little Louis (a westie) has definitely adpated to my lifestyle. We have lots of quality time, but he also needs to sleep about 16 hours a day...so I don't feel bad being out and about :)

  4. I am with you on this! I want a pet so bad but I travel too much and work 30 minutes away. I can't wait to get a pet someday though! Really wishing I had a little furry thing to come home to in the meantime :)

  5. You know all about our love...George. We don't have a yard, so we take him to doggie daycare a couple days a week. He LOVES it! And we love it too because it tuckers him out and he's so well behaved. If you do want to get one Westben Goldens is the place to go. They make wonderful dogs and the breeders are so nice. www.westbengoldens.com Last time I checked they had 2 boys and a girl ready to find a loving home. :) And they have pics. They are sooo cute!!! If we had a bigger house I'd get one for George so he could have a little buddy!

  6. I don't have a dog but have been wanting one something fierce for a while now. We had a Bring Your Dog to Work Day last week, and that fueled my fire! I can't wait to get into a house myself and out of this apartment so I can get one, too!
